Scottish Paul is even dafter tonight than he was at the weekend, making comments about the previous programme over the end credits

Comparing him to former GMG announcers, his style has now gone past Neil Didsbury style and is now like Pete Haslam.

Forgive me, but not knowing the GMG lot, is that good or bad for S.P.?

I have to say, hes a lot clearer tonight. Do you think ITV are telling him the same things that we are saying?

I actually like to hear the announcer ad-lib over the closing credits about the show thats just finished - the 'I've been watching it with you' approach really works.

The master of this was ex-Central announcer Andy Marriott.

Oh yes, Andy Marriott's classic line when the lesbian kiss happened in Emmerdale and he came off the back of it, over the credits with "Oohhh, that'll get the tongues wagging." Laughing

And of course, who can forgot Paul Vesey and his spectaculars such as "Corpseroads" and then when an argument had just occured in Coronation Street, simply saying over the credits "So stick that in your pipe and smoke it."

The announcers on ITV aren't bad...but they're not brilliant either...they just don't have anything about them. Just distinctly average...seems the ex-Southampton lot are still used to reading their announcements as if they're being recorded to be played out across the GMG South stations. I know it has been said but Glenn (and Trish of course!) is the only one with any pizazz and style (and he likes calling my particular part of the region "ITV1 for Central" or "Central on ITV1" - he never disappoints.)

Compare Saturday and Sunday's continuity with Tonight's and see which you prefer.

I take it it was Sonia tonight.

I tend not to watch any telly at all on Monday nights as, contrary to Squarey's belief, Monday night is "sauce" night with the high-flying media chums, as the club tends to be much quieter on a Monday and we can talk shop in peace!

Nick, I trust the round at the 'club' equates to no more than 50p !!!

The toerags have put the prices up again, Mike. It's 55p now!

Mind you, mustn't stay out late on a Monday night, in case I lie in and miss any good radio shows at 11am on a Tuesday!

Yeah, I followed your link on a previous thread and read that our Mr Glen (LWT) Thompsett has been jocking-it-up on a certain RADIO CAROLINE.
Well I never. Didn't realise he did radio did you Nick?

Oh yes, Mike, he did radio long before his television days.

I expect you'll be able to read all about his early days on the new LWT Tribute Site, currently being advertised on The Continuity Booth.

If I'm not mistaken, the overnight announcer on ITV1 yesterday was the bloke who is normally the ITV2 announcer
