I remember a cartoon dragon with the late Mark Speight on itv. I think that was 1997 because Mother Theresa's funeral was being broadcast on RTE. It's funny because I can remember the awful pink paint in mum and dad's living room all of a sudden lol.

Live and Kicking with Zoe Ball and then there was Ant, Dec and Cat on SMTV later on.

SMTV was unmissable for me once I got in on it. Was it replaced with something else in the summer? I can't remember now.

We used to get up and take ourselves off to the local cinema for children’s films, perhaps going ice skating as an alternative. Then we would entertain ourselves for the rest of the day without the need for adult supervision or any sort of electronic paraphernalia to amuse us.

No, after Dick & Dom there was TMi with Sam & Mark and Caroline Flack which was brilliant in the first series from Leicester Square but went downhill after that. After the fourth series in 2009 it was moved to Friday afternoons for one final run in 2010 - I think that was also the last programme to be made in Studio 9?

I was well outside it's demographic, but the first series of TMi was fantastic. My partner and I would be in hysterics at some of the stuff they got up to running riot around the square and in the studio.

Was it MTVs old studio they used?

Yes it was, they made great use of the space both inside and out. I remember the first series also had a Big Brother style element where Sam & Mark supposedly lived in a flat and celeb guests came round, but it didn't really work. Probably the only thing that didn't work from that otherwise excellent first series.

No, they carried on through the summer. Ant & Dec would go on holiday and they would have presenters stand in and then afterwards Cat would go on holiday and a presenter would stand in for her.

Which in turn, the final series of Live and Kicking did just that. Although it moved to Scotland after the traditional London run had ended but of course the damage to the brand had already been done.

As each series of TMi progressed, the duration of the show got less and less.

I remember Andi Peters leaving Live & Kicking in 1996 feeling like the most important TV moment in history with how much it was built up. From memory Emma Forbes was going to stay on with a new presenter, but when the next series began in September it was Zoe & Jamie hosting with Emma as a special guest.

Did Saturday morning kids programmes end with Dick & Dom or did the ITV equivalent (whatever that was) carry on longer?

Ministry of Mayhem on ITV which was on at the time of DIck N Dom although MoM did morph into Holly and Stephen's Saturday Showdown which was a heavily cut back version of MoM which launched at the start of 2006. As the first few months progressed and DIck N Dom's show ended and the CITV channel had launched, ITV gave up on Saturday mornings and the final few shows of Showdown was on the CITV channel only.

That was when ITV poached Saturday Kitchen (apart from the name, which the BBC kept hold of), used it to replace Saturday Showdown, and it flopped badly.

Used to be a mixture of BBC and ITV programmes for me, but mainly ITV. Used to watch The Littlest Hobo followed by Saturday Morning Superstore and some Going Live. Also loved watching The Wide Awake Club, Top Banana, Hey Hey It's Saturday, Cartoon World on TV-AM. Then, the main course would follow with Children's ITV presenting Motormouth or Ghost Train! So disappointed when both of these shows ended. Later on, I would watch It's Not Just Saturday, mainly cos Danni Minogue was on it ☺️.

I was always a CITV kid. Some of the earlier things I can remember include Eat Your Words and Saturday Disney on GMTV, but my era was that of SMTV plus those that came before - Mashed, Scratchy & Co, What’s Up Doc etc. I’d grown out of it by the time Ministry of Mayhem came along. Was there an animated one called Tricky or something too? Think it was a summer filler that just appeared out of nowhere, hosted ‘live’ by a cartoon dragon.

The cartoon dragon was 'Tricky'. It ran for 1 series when Scratchy & Co wasn't airing.

There was quite a few 1 series wonders like that in the 90's until they found success with SMTV.

That was it - I’d just edited my post as the name came to me.
