The ITV1 on DSAT thread seems to have done a runner, so a new one I'm afraid.

They've put London ITV1 live in switched wide-screen on the satellite today.

No sign of the other regions yet.

5pm yesterday they went into widescreen on Carlton and ITV2 today. I'd assumed the rollout for the other regions would be today but obviously not.

Aha!

Must be a length of damp string thrown across the room for the Carlton/LWT and ITV2 wide-screen signalling.

I assume there's a tad more work needed to get the other regions sorted.

Still, it's progress, so I won't complain.

At least I can now watch in wide-screen without the endless ads for that shopping centre in Ballymoney! Wink

It must be the best known shopping centre in the UK at the moment.

I'm sure there'll be endless ads for shopping centres you've never heard of in London as well Wink

But yes it will be nice to get all regions in w/s, and also the s/w update seems to have largely got round UTV's glitching problems as well Smile

I see they've switched another batch over today.

Some interesting combinations though; for instance HTV West is wide-screen, but Wales isn't yet.

Perhaps later in the day.

Yesterday I saw Carlton London, Anglia, Border, and UTV broadcasting in widescreen.

Well, at close of 'normal' business for NTL today, it looks like all the regions are over to wide-screen EXCEPT Carlton Central, Scottish, Grampian and Channel.

Must say Central's a bit of a suprise, I'd have expected pressure to get that big an area over as early as possible.

I assume Channel might not go over at all in the short term.

Channel don't broadcast widescreen full stop. The feed of ITV which comes from Meridian is an analogue feed in 4.3.

Hopefully this will change shortly when they change the way the ITV feed is received. It will start coming through fibre optic cables that are being currently laided in the English Channel.

Well, they made those nice blokes from NTL work Saturday again.

I see Central, Scottish and Grampian are now wide-screen, even if Central DID have a bit of a glitch around lunchtime, when they were showing one of the HTV's instead. Never did find out which. All sorted now, though.

I OUGHT to stop moaning, but a bit of teletext would be nice now, as well!

Yes Dave, Channel to follow when their feed is upgraded and, presumably, when they've spent a few bob on some new equipment. Shouldn't think they've got much/any 16:9 kit there till Santa's been!

Plus maybe Channel will be renamed ITV1 now as ITV2 is available on DSat Smile

I think Carlton Central relayed HTV Wales, although I would've thought it would have been more sensible to relay Carlton Westcountry, so it would keep the Carlton branding...
