The Sarah Connor Chronicles

I've just found out about this new series yesterday. Yet another attempt at a spin-off-TV-series of a movie franchise but this is the first one I'm actually interested in.

The Sarah Connor Chronicles is a new series that begins airing in January 2008 (although the pilot episode has been leaked and is downloadedable). The series is a carry on of the Terminator movies and begins a few years after the events of Terminator 2 and focuses on Sarah & John Connor fighting Skynet whilst hiding from the authorities. The story takes places after T2 and you have a discount the story of T3.

The show's main Character’s are Sarah Connor (Lena Headey). John Connor (Thomas Dekker) with ally Cameron Phillips (Summer Glau) who is a unknown Terminator model (the most advanced & human looking yet) re-programmed and sent back to protect John. Plus James Ellison (Richard T. Jones) and FBI agent chasing them. A full season is in production for the Fox Network.

I have downloaded and watched the pilot already and I love it and can't wait for the full series. It will be aired in the UK on the forthcoming 'Virgin 1' channel. (Virgin's rival to Sky One). However in the US it is to air on Fox so I'd better not get 'too' attached. I only found about it yesterday and am spending the word.

I must admit I'm looking forward to seeing the Sarah Connor chronicles but I can't see it lasting long whether it was on Fox or anywhere else. You can't just have a Terminator chase them every week so it's going to need some very good writers to pull off the series. My main concern is that the show stays within the continuity of the movies and not altering established canon.

Bewitched fan 2k, did you realise that there is going to be a new trilogy of Terminator movies? Set after events of T3 telling John Connors story as he leads the rebellion against Skynet.

It won't be like that I don't think and yes I know theres going to be a T4 but given I didn't like T3 and this series is an alternative timeline following on from T2 and after viewing the pilot I like where the story is going more with this I think.

From what I've read T4 should be more like the original Terminator movie when Kyle Reece has his future war flashbacks. It should be much darker, obviously being set post apocalypse, with somebody else becoming John Connor. Also hopefully it should be the end of protectors from the future so Schwarzenegger shouldn't appear in anything other than a cameo role at the end of Part 6 as all three versions go back into the past.

I could easily be wrong here but I feel certain it's not an alternative timeline but the Sarah Connor chronicles just happens between T2 and T3. So it has to be careful not to contradict what has already happened in T3. I just hope they do as good a job as Blade the TV series after the abortion that was Blade Trinity.
