I think when Preston saw the book (with all those post it note placemarkers) he must have realised that there was going to be a stream of quotes and decided to exit after the first or second.

Hearing someone insult your spouse is significantly more uncomfortable than dealing with a joke against yourself.

I'm no fan of Preston, but I totally understand his choice to leave.

But he wasn't insulting her. At the end of the day, look at the nature of this show... if he's offended by anything he shouldn't have even gone on it.

I found it funny though when everyone else started leaving their chair the moment Simon mentioned something about them.

It's just one theory, HolyMoly which is normally fairly accurate (and when it isn't it's still a good read) ran this last week:

Extraordinary Ploys

Stop the clocks! Could it be that the fairytale romance of the century is over? Anvil-faced Ordinary Boys front-cock Preston has been photographed with his ex, and it appears that they are still very much in contact.

His management realised that such pictures could lead some to believe that his marriage is a sham and purely a means for a talentless nobody (and Chantelle) to make a bit of dosh while the going is good. The management put their heads together and hatched a Machiavellian plot.

"Right Preston, you're on that 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks' tonight. It might just happen that they have a go at Chantelle or something. If they do, have a strop to show how much she means to you. That'll fool the world!"

Several hours later, Preston 'storms' off the set after a light-hearted jibe about his wife. Hardly Heathcliffe, is he?

I know that celebrity gossip isn't to be trusted, but it certainly sounds plausable. He wasn't happy right from the start of the show, either he was planning on walking out or something was upsetting him at the time

Lol! I think you'll find that piece is fictional. Next time the author of that piece reads an Enid Blyton book he/she shouldn't take it so literally Wink

Who knows if it is or not? Certainly not me or I doubt you.

As I say it's certainly one explanation.

Substitute Preston is purty.

You're not wrong there! Smile

In your opinion Laughing I think he's gross, and I certainly don't think he's "purty" with a personality and lack of a sense of humour like his Laughing

Thankfully SA took him to task Cool

I sense you didn't spot the word 'substitute' in Barney's post.

[Edit: Barney beat me to it.]

A nice touch that Ed's name was on the credits at the end, down as 'Special Guest'.

Oh yeah doh Embarassed Embarassed Sorry, spent too long staring at my computer screen this morning. I have eyes like p*ssholes in the snow now.

Apologies to the substitute Preston. I take it then they didn't use a tub of lard then!

He'd have had to sign a release form for the programme to be shown (even though the terms and conditions for the tickets specify that you might get involved in the show). I wonder what would have happened if he hadn't agreed to release the footage!? I went to see a radio show last year where 2 people were dragged out of the audience for part of it, both had their details taken by members of the production staff and names taken for reference

Bizarre as it seems, Ed has a Wikipedia page.... and it's almost as long as the entry forSamuel Preston!

Does it truly matter at all who added it? It, like every other error which pops up on Wikipedia due to absolute fools pissing with it because they can, is a non-issue you can change if you know it's wrong. Stop whining and just change it.

It also seems a bit strange that his ex is still living in his flat in Brighton.
