Have to agree regarding Amstell, I liked Lamarr presenting the show but Amstell really doesn't give a sh*te if he genuinely offends them Very Happy

I also agree. I could take or leave Lamarr, but I absolutely love Amstell's attitude.

The week that Amstell first appeared as NMTB host, Alison Graham said in her Radio Times column something along the lines of: "On Popworld , Amstell gave pop-stars the respect they deserved - i.e. none!" Laughing

I couldn't have put it better myself. Smile

Preston would have known exactly what Amstell was like - he'd done several apperances on Popworld!

Indeed. Therefore I find it impossible to believe that there can have been any genuine offence, regardless of whatever Amstell said/did. Definately pure publicity stunt IMHO. Rolling Eyes

Sense of humour Failure...

Preston has a different sense of humour to most of us. It takes alot to make him laugh.

It should be aired about the beginning of February.

If it "takes a lot" to make him laugh, then surely that's more than just merely a "different" sense of humour, but rather a lesser sense of humour? (i.e. "he's got (virtually) no sense of humour" etc)

Being in the Chart Music game, and having little/no sense of humour about yourself is not a great combination. Having said that, it's never hampered Madonna's longevity... Wink

True. Although he will laugh and take the piss out of himself. I liken it to Mr. Hellfire making jokes among his friends about me but, if they were to start taking the piss out of me when i wasn't there to defend myself he'd rip their heads off. If Amstell had stuck to Preston or Prestelle jokes he would have taken it like a man. He may not have found it funny but he would have handled it better.

Why did Preston bother to appear on the show then?

Because, like his "dippy" girlfriend (who's clearly not dippy in the slightest),

What makes you say that-- do you know her? Confused I think Chantelle must just have a very good agent... any agent worth his/hers salt can make even the most taletnless individuals successful-- look at Jane Goody Wink

/even more cynical

Chantelle (whoever he is... Wink ) was on Loose Women a fair few weeks ago. Most of what she said was "y'know".

She was able to somehow talk for ages without actually saying anything. Rolling Eyes Her "answers" to any given question, weren't even "evasive answers" - they weren't "answers" by an definition of the word at all. They were just a case of rearranging the question into a statement, without adding anything extra whatsoever.

This type of thing:

INTERVIEWER: So, you and Preston did such-and-such last week?
CHANTELLE: Yeah... y'know... Preston and me... y'know... did such-and-such... last week. [adding nothing - not even, say, whether she had a nice time, or saying "we're really happy" etc, or anything ]

Her vacuous persona (completely regardless of whether it's genuine or an act) makes for indescribably tedious television. If it's an act, then it's not a good idea, and whoever's idea the act was, was a moron. Or, if she really is that vacuous, then putting someone that dumb on telly is just as tasteless as parading a disfugured person in a circus freakshow.

I saw that too. I thought it was quite nice to see the old Thalidomide learning to talk.

That's what I was driving at Laughing Even if it is an 'act' (being charitable), I think it's an incredibly tedious and unentertaining one!

If Chantelle really is intelligent, wouldn't have Preston stuck up for her-- rather than reacting the way he did on NMTB .

I think Chantelle has got herself a good agent, who has provided her with lots of publicity appearances to perpetuate her fame. Judging by her persona, I don't think her fame has anything to do with talent or personality.

By a "different sense of humour... it takes a lot to make him [Preston]" laugh", I think Ms Hellfire was perhaps taking the mick Wink SOHF is indeed "sense of humour failure", as opposed to GSOH Cool
