If Granada Television are planning to sell off their Manchester M60 9EA base (or at least
large parts of it) what exactly will happen to the shows that are currently made there?

Does anyone know, or can anyone at least speculate, as to what is likely to happen with
regards to the studio sharing venture between Granada TV and BBC Manchester, where
a number of well known BBC shows like "A Question Of Sport", and more recently, the
new series of "Mastermind" are recorded? AFAIK, this venture was established partly
for the benefit of shows made by BBC Manchester, as there is more studio space
available for use at Granada TV, than there is at the BBC on Oxford Road.

Does this proposed sell off mean that bulldozers will eventually be seen on Quay Street,
razing most of Granada TV's original Manchester headquarters to the ground, only to be
eventually replaced by yet another needless block of fancy, overpriced apartments?

More importantly, if Granada are getting rid of their original Manchester HQ, what will
happen to Coronation Street? Could the production of the UK's most popular soap
opera, end up being moved from Manchester to Leeds, or worse, to London?!?

There is a thread somewhere which does have some information and look on Media Guardian as they have the information been confirmed by Granada themselves. But they want to move out of Quay Street into a smaller coverted building at the back of it, a building I think was part of the Granada Studios Tour, the benefit of this building is that it doesn't look 1950's in anyway. Coronation Street will remain where it is for a while, they will not be affected in anyway at all. I don't know if they want to demolish all of it, but it looks like that they are keen to, I heard somewhere that they may want to keep some of the building and convert it slightly, as there are many programmes made at the studio. But no word has been said yet of what effect it will have on 3SixtyMedia, really it shouldn't have any but it will probably which is the bad news. But you can't blame Granada in a way, have you been to Quay Street lately? Every building around it is new or converted into apartments or offices with the studios being an eyesore, I even think that they have sold off some of their car park to build something on that. Though something which has been suggested on the forums which would be a good idea is to move the News back to Liverpool, as they still have their newsroom there. But any uneccessary departments at Granada will either be closed or moved to London.
