Right, I have not had a good time with Freeview boxes. Two years ago I got a Digifusion box which after a while imploded for reasons which are known. I then got the upgrade to the Digifusion box which after a year of using started to die, recordings were being deleted without consent, time and guides were mucked up etc...
At the beginning of the year I bought a Sagem Freeview box which records (same as the Digifusion boxes). It was fine in Jan, all channels and recs etc.. but over the months channels have seemed to disapper and then when I retune they come back but do not work and then go again, they mainly are C5, C5 Life and C5 US and Sky Three, I'm sure there areothers but not really bothered.
We have two other t.v's in the house with freeview boxes and they get all the channels and work perfectly.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be as I would like to have C5...
Thanks for any help,
Oliver

Probably reception issues - is that box off a different aerial to the other two? (i.e. do you get a different region)

Mux A - which hosts Five, Five US and Five Life, doesn't have the best reception and when I lose coverage here, it's always the first to go. Check ABC1, QVC, Bid-TV and Price-drop TV - they are on the same mux and if it's a reception problem with Mux A, they should disappear too when you lose Five etc.

Sky Three - again possibly a similar situation with Mux C - so check Sky News, Sky Sports News, E4+1 and UKTV History.

If that's not the problem - well, I'm sure someone who knows what they're talking about can step in.

( On the subject, do aerial boosters help at all with slightly dodgy digital signals? )

Problem with Freeview boxes is you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Try an higher end product, ie. Sony.

Sony are not immune to making crap electronic products. In fact they're lost shed loads of money having to replace all those laptop batteries that were considered fire risks. Profit down 94% apparently year-on-year.

Its far more likely that the original poster's issues can be resolved by the simple catch-all solution - pull the plug, leave it a while, plug it in again. Or alternatively, if its on an indoor aerial, swap it with an aerial from another TV and see if things improve.

Oooh, interesting. I get a horrible picture on the Five channels and also those two channels - it's kind of "tearing" or deinterlacing or whatever, on and off.

I was told it was probably a problem with my Freeview box, but that makes me think it probably isn't - I'll have to try out the other channels you mentioned and see if it affects those too.

Bet it does.
