ITV News are doing a great job - very impressive coverage.

Yes, but ITV1's attempts at getting a news report to air were laughable. Here in London, an Ambi-Pur end frame was on air for ages before a crash cut to a generic ITV1 animation, then black, then a second or two of ITV NC (in the wrong aspect ratio) with a presenter looking at a script, then a cut to the Paul meets Peter programme (or whatever it was called) then black and silence for something like 30seconds then a crash cut back to the programme.

They've now interrupted the programme to go to a News Special.

Didn't see that as I was watching on the NC - they went from the obit report into a few seconds of the breakfiller with a breaking news strap overlaid and then straight to Mark Austin

Very good coverage from all UK broadcasters, News 24 is doing very well, they have all their correspondents up (early for some in the US!), as do ITV News and possibly Sky. Sky pre-empted Sunday with Adam Boulton, going to it briefly for some reaction from Neil Kinnock, but the programme itself was canned.

But, as I said in the News 24 thread I think, ITV **** up at 11am trying to get a news report out, it was on after BBC1 briefly joined News 24 for a report, and ITV's was only on for a few seconds before being cut off by the scheduled programme (LNN to blame their I think). Then round about 11.30 they got a report with Mark Austin on.

CNN had the edge though today - they had a correspondent in Tikrit via videophone, and also some exclusive pictures of what might be the troops in action capturing Saddam.

What's happened to the clock in the ITV News studio?! Mark Austin just had to look at his watch to check the time!

ITV1 has gone into a special with Mark Austin - also on the NC

The News Channel has been playing out a Saddam obit package (by Robert Moore or James Mates?).

ITV1 is using News Channel graphics minus the DOG and clock

Indeed and with a flash of break filler just as ITV1 joined in.

Was Mark Austin on the News Channel before ITV1 joined them?

Saw a bit on News 24 earlier with a reporter standing outside Number 10 - and in the background you could hear the reporters from ITV NC and Sky News doing an interview at the same time! Razz Downing Street must be flooded with reporters now!

No - it was Steve Scott, with Gary Cotterill providing a commentary from the newsroom.
