If people are upset about this, maybe they should have watched the show.

When a national TV programme is getting the kind of audience figures you'd expect from a daytime show on a small local radio station, you know you're done for.

The thing is it wasn't a bad programme, it's just no-one knew where to find it!

Richard keeps trotting out the line that they wanted to move into digital because it's the future an soon everyone will have it.... but didn't take into account the fact that Watch was not only a new and unknown channel but also a pay one. If it had ended up on an established freeview channel it would have done better

The fact is, though tons may have found Watch for stuff like Total Wipeout USA. The people who watched Richard and Judy, who in my eyes are women midle aged or old, could not find Watch so virtually only a few people with Sky or Virgin and knew of the channels existance watched.

On channel 4, everyone knew they were there and watched, yet on no one really knew they moved to Watch.

IMO Richard and Judy were really quite stupid thinking that moving to a new subscription based channel would be a good idea.

It's also the 9th channel on the Sky EPG, so hardly difficult to find; it's part of Sky's Variety pack, which almost all subscribers have; it's available on Virgin Media, plus there's been loads of publicity for the show.

Of course if they'd been on Freeview they'd have had more viewers, but the point is the ratings for their show weren't just bad by Richard and Judy's standards, they were bad by Watch's standards.

If those with subscription to the channel had wanted to watch them, they'd have found them. I guess people just aren't that bothered about Richard and Judy anymore.

They can blame the channel all they want, but 200,000+ are finding it for Wipeout USA, while the Watch top ten is generally all above 100,000 - ten times what Richard and Judy were getting.

I suspect Wipeout USA and the other popular programmes on Watch have a better slot.

They were a bit done-over by their scheduling as well .5PM on channel 4 will get less than 9PM on channel 4. Watch gets fewer viewers than 4 therefore a 5PM slot on watch will have even fewer. I think it would have done better if they'd kept it at 8pm. And they wouldn't have had the very low ratings blip from the Obama inauguration being dragged out in every story about them

I hope they continue to present shows, even individually. It might be a breath of fresh air for them both to try something completely new.

I expect all BBC and ITN newsreaders to wear black for the duration of next week at least.

Well when I first read the title of the thread, I did think they must have died.

IIRC wasn't this reported a while ago?

They were going to go at December (end of their contract) if ratings didn't pick up but ratings have only continued to drop so the contract is ending early and they will possibly go their separate ways.. on TV anyway.

Full praise to Mr R Madeley for trying to keep in the press with his "shocking memoirs" over the last few months but alas it obviously hasn't worked.

I can't help but think that their demise has been by their own hands. They have made some terrible decisions or accepted bad advice since they left This Morning.
This is what happens when your ego gets bigger than the hand that feeds you.

Hasn't Madeley done stuff on his own? I seem to remember some sort of documentary series...?

They both did a few things while they did This Morning - Richard mainly quiz shows, while I remember Judy doing some consumer show for ITV.
