If you ever needed evidence of Granada's winding down of regional programming, just watch Eamonn O'Neal presenting Granada TV's 'The Afternoon Show'. He's bloody embarrassing! There doesn't appear to be anyone doing research, since he has no clue who the guest he's talking to is half the time and almost every question he asks contains evidence of his ignorance, usually embarrassingly so. Sack him!
Why sack him??? Big Eamonn is lovely. I don’t think he's that bad at presenting. Anyway, Eamonn is a producer on almost all Granada TV Regional Programs, so its a bit daft coming out with 'Sack him'.
When I was 'young and stupid', I use to watch Lunchtime Live at 13:00 everyday. He was always eating on that show; does he do the same now? The only other good bit of Lunchtime Live was the Clock!! Nice theme too, better than ‘The Afternoon shows’ theme.
Well OK, I was being glib saying sack him, but he really isn't very good on this show. He always looks like he wandered into the studio five minutes before the show came on and was handed a quick brief while he finished his coffee. I suppose you might like that sort of thing, and I like that sort of thing sometimes, but he just looks a bit too detached these days.
And yes, he does spend most of the programme eating!
Since Eammonn is not just a presenter but also the Executive Producer of Regional Programmes at Granada Televsion (ie. big cheese!, there are not many who can sack him!
If that's true, being harsh, I think it explains everything you need to know about why Granada regional programming has taken a nose dive in recent years. Virtually everything they put out now is amateur rubbish, to the point where it looks suspiciously like appointing him was a cynical move by 'higher powers' to make regional programming look like a waste of time. And that's not so far-fetched an idea.
If you look on nearly every show there is his name in the credits, Even Granada Reports. I think he is good on it Paul Crone did it for a few weeks a few months back.

I think it must apply to News and Factual or something on the same lines, as I have seen Eamonn O Neal's name on Granada News, The Afternoon Show, Crimefighters Alpha 3 and that programme with Anthony Wilson about the industrial revoultion. Not all of Granada's programmes are pants, I watched TAS on Monday and it was very good, same with some other shows. But Granada News needs a kick up the arse to be honest, really only with its graphics as they look rather silly, though Tony Morris has made the show watchable again.

The Exec Producer is the "Big Boss", he/she leaves the production team to make the script and running order. There are frequent meetings at different stages of produciton, all will involved the Exec who stears the show and advises on how the show should look/feel.
They are also involved in forward planning.

yeah eamon o neal is awful on the a fternoon show but there again he was bad on lunchtiome live the yorkshire version of ll was even worse remember the awful credits and the 2 women who just did not have a cvlue what they were doing! it was a joke
