I know absolutely nothing about transmitters, but here's what I've just found out for you...
It looks like the Moel y Parc transmitter (or an associated relay thereof) is probably your nearest Welsh transmitter (?).
Telford is, what, something like 40km (20 miles) or so from the England/Wales border?
I've no idea what transmitter signal strengths are like, so maybe it is possible. But possibly requiring a super-duper boosted aerial etc.
It's probably a lot less of a faff to just get Sky installed, and go to channel 134! Or move to Wales!
Just out of interest, what in particular do you want to get S4C for?

If all else fails, try www.zattoo.com
Download and register (it's free), and you can watch S4C and many other local channels...

Is there any chance of picking up S4C (Analogue) in Telford?

The S4C version on Zattoo does not appear to be the analogue version... unless someone knows how it can be got on there!

Slim. The Long Mountain relay, or Moel-y-Parc main stations are your best bets, but as others have said, satellite would be an easier and cheaper option.
In any case analogue transmissions in Wales cease in about 18 months time, so any installation will be short lived.

Probably because S4C analogue carries live and timeshifted C4 programmes, and there will be rights issues.
The Digital versions of S4C remove the C4 stuff.

Good point.
I wonder why RJH Glover wants the analogue version in particular?
Maybe he wants the novelty of seeing "channel 4" programmes preceeded by S4C idents? Maybe he wants to see the last ever analogue-only-schedule programme, when the time for switch-off comes? I doubt that the latter event will receive any special on-air fanfare. Or, if it does, it's the sort of thing that's bound to be uploaded onto YouTube or wherever by some TV-pres fan or other.

Forgive me if this has been discussed somewhere already, but will Digital SwicthOver mean that S4C will cease to exist in the form it's been since launch (i.e. bits of C4 + welsh language programmes) ? What's carried on Freeview in Wales? Is it S4C Digidol (sp?) as on Sky, or is it S4C as carried on analogue terrestrial?

I'm certain the "Channel 4-less" version of S4C is what's carried on all digital platforms, including Freeview. I beleive that "Channel 4" is on Freeview in Wales, further down the EPG (channel 8 or 15 or something), just as is the case on Sky, Virgin etc in Wales.
Thus making a nonsense of the need for S4C to re-broadcast "Channel 4" programmes.
You did indeed spell the word Digidol correctly. The use of that suffix is only really for distinguishing between the analogue and digital schedule differences. So, it only really appears in trailers, menus etc, not in idents or anything like that AFAIK - not even during the digital-exclusive schedule periods - as it's not meant to be part of the station's "name" at all. Clearly, once there is not such thing as analogue S4C anymore, there'd be no need for the digital version to have the suffix, hence its selective use currently.
So, indeed, the "original" version of S4C (i.e. with bits of "Channel 4" stuff in it's schedule) will cease to exist forever after DSO! Seems like a big deal to the likes of us TV-pres fans, but you can bet your life that little-to-nothing will be made of it on-air, I reckon.

Channel 4 is broadcast on Freeview Ch 8 in Wales.
For me in Warrington depending on where you are you can pick up a half decent picture from Moel-Y-Parc, at our house it doesn't work too well, yet at the gym I go to a mile away it often has BBC One Wales showing pretty clearly on the screens. At my ex girlfriends place she could pick up the Welsh channels in the clear too, even managed to see a little bit of Yorkshire and Central for good measure too.
Considering Shropshire borders Wales, I'd guess you'd have a chance of picking up something, I found S4/C is probably the easiest Welsh channel to pick up for some reason.
