Broadcast are reporting that they're freeing up the 9pm slot for the first (?) time by moving the news to 7:30 and the soaps from 6:30 to 8/8:30. They'll be 'supercharging' their 9pm factual and drama offering. All seems like a good way of getting people in at 9pm, 9:30 as a slot is always going to be a bit of loser when people are halfway into shows on other channels.

The opposite of what they did a few years ago then when Newyddion 9 was introduced partly to reduce the content needed post-9pm.

9:00pm was always an odd time for Newyddion, but I believe they did this when the budgets were being slashed and it was probably a good way to cover that, but I’m guessing they’re in a better place now. Newyddion had been at 7:30pm since the mid to late 1990’s prior to its move to 9:00pm.

Also added an extra edition of Heno on Saturday nights whilst there is a news summary just before 9pm, which I think they used to do.

Great to see Pobol Y Cwm going strong. 46 years and I watch it religiously.

It’s on BBC iplayer - click ‘S’ for subtitles.

They have a schedule change every 10 years and every time they think they've cracked it. However I think it's better to have the magazine shows/news earlier in the evening because it's the kind of thing that can be on in the background while people are making tea/eating. I think a lot of people prefer 9-10pm for more focused lean-back viewing, like dramas or documentaries.

Although for many people, especially the younger generation, the actual schedule is an irrelevance. However if there was a big news story and I wanted to watch the news live, I'm more likely to do that at 7.30 than later.

Does S4C have a Friday evening sports preview programme? Might be worth an idea.

Slightly OT: is there a place where you can watch S4C content subtilted, in Welsh?

I know it seem might a strange request, but I need to understand some "quick conversation" Welsh

Is none of their content subtitled for the hard of hearing?

The vast majority is subtitled in English and a handful of hours per week is also subtitled in Welsh. On their Clic website you can choose the subtitle language, and the relevant programmes are identified in the listings page on their site.
