Interesting reading this thread, it seems most of TV Forum user's opinions have changed over the years: http://www.tvforum.co.uk/forums/post441566#post-441566

The rule is it takes time for people to adapt to changes, and it goes better if there is a clear reason for the change to happen.

Even though my opinion is not recorded there, I'd be the first to admit I felt the previous set were a weird replacement for the dragons (and the whole temporary rebrand that lead up to them was even weirder). I still do think they're weird, but somehow felt very very Welsh and suited the output of the station. Certainly, I could not imagine them in use on any other station.

With these idents it's just the opposite - they don't feel particularly Welsh, and while I can't say they don't suit the channels output they certainly don't feel as though they were customised to suit it.

The logo I can live with; and I even quite like the interaction around the DOG.

My opinion hasn't changed one bit. The dragon idents were around some of the best ever made for a UK broadcaster and they should have kept the theme going, even if in a slightly different way.

The previous set were great and were a nice departure from the lazy cliches that are so easy to fall back on in Wales (dragons, male voice choirs, sheep, etc) with a nice metaphor running through most of them.

They really are playing it safe with this new lot - they speak of a channel that doesn't like to take risks, which might be nearer the truth than the older set.

Just realised what the new logo is reminding me of:

The Enterprise Resource Management system that knows only hate.
