With Wales switching to digital television completly in 2008 (we're way ahead of the rest of you!) I guess the end of S4C's analogue service will also mean the end of the S4C we're most used to - being replaced by a solely Welsh channel.

Obviously with C4 now available in Wales this is the sensible move - but it will be the end of an era.

I've noticed lately that S4C seem to have gone back to the days of pushing C4 programmes into more obscure slots (having just about got the balance right a couple of years ago!). The excellent Shameless aired a week later on Wednesday nights around midnight, while this week The Games has been in a post-midnight slot most nights!

I guess with digital take-up in Wales at nearly 70% - higher than the rest of the UK - and C4 available in the majority of Welsh homes, S4C are concentrating on their own Welsh language output.

I know S4C are concerned about the money they'll lose when they stop showing C4 programmes - and are after more public money (as all channels are since OFCOM proposed their ridiculous Public Service Publisher idea!) - so I wonder what the future holds!

Will it remain as it is - and keep the "4" slot on Freeview and Sky Digital?

Or maybe a change is required to secure it's long term future - perhaps replacing BBC Four in Wales (with a modified S4C~2 replacing BBC Parilament)?
