I relay like the Pier ident, its relay subtle but beautiful and the logo dose make sense as people have said, i dont think its a big deal and how it animates on is different as well, the music isn't as bold as it used to be, it dosent have a typical S4C tone to it.
Personally with the exception of golf, i think they are quite welsh and they do in there own way portray Wales to me, it may just be because im welsh. I couldn't imagine one of the other UK broadcasters having them as there package, the balloons one is obviously welsh due to its location in the assembly but the rest whilst watching them seemed to remind me of diffrent welsh locations so they have done there so called job.
Also i don't seem to understand why S4C has to be welsh in every way shape or form, the BBC is a British broadcaster and yet we don't have people questioning the ident or the logo's 'britishness'. The channel is welsh language and i think thats the most important part regardless of if its presentation screams 'welshness' or not.
What is it about idents today??
ITV is crap... ohh, i mean still is crap with a woman riding a bicycle and a man walking down a market.
BBC ONE with some kids playing in a field and a guy with jam jars for glasses putting the moon together. and now S4C with a background that doesn't symbolise Wales in no way at all and a crap new logo.
I mean S4/
C
How unimaginative..... like my mocks.
Is this a complete s4c relaunch of the branding, or just for S4C.
There are two S4C channels b.t.w. S4C 2 looks at crap from the welsh assembly. a bit like ITV Play... A waste of broadcasting space channel.
S4C seems to use the same style idents as TG4 - they're abstract but I think they work well.
I guess they've both had the idea that Welsh/Irish styles are different. I'd love to see something like that on TG4 but I doubt it would work at all on RTE or TV3 (Ireland's BBC and ITV)
I still don't quite see how these show passion for the homeland in any definite sense - they are just shots of the locations with a moving element such as Frisbees or Balloons in each. The music tracks vary from dull to slightly interesting in my view, but overall nothing really catchy, so in that respect the old S4C jingle was far superior.
The one that seems the oddest, seems to have turned out to be the best IMO (albeit of a rather underwhelming bunch) and that's the Chairs ident. Maybe it's because that one alludes very slightly to the old S4C - red as a strong colour and more significantly, a plain object that should be static coming to life on its own. It's the quirky factor that makes it work.
The Buoys ident I dislike the most; the whole sequence has a very dull and miserable feel to it. And seeing the new logo in motion, it is still just as bad! Put a sign or symbol at the start or end of a logo, but not between the letters.
Personally I don't think they are that bad. I can recognise most of the locations they were filmed in. And I think the problem most people seem to have is that it is non Welsh people who seem to think that there is a certain need for the idents to scream welsh!
I think these idents are fantastic. As has been said, they are very Welsh without screaming about it. The production on the soundtracks and the visuals is great.
Dear oh dearie me Last year, I would have said that S4C had the best presentation on the analogue at that time, even matching up to C4's idents. And yet, and yet they chose to join the ever increasing crowd of crap presentation. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it," is a term that yet another channel has chosen to ignore.

Go to The TV Room and look at TG4's idents. They're similar in stye to S4C but people from outside Ireland just don't get them!
The new website has now launched, and although the header looks a bit plain, I much prefer it to the old design, which had definitely reached the end of it's life.
It''s just a shame the new logo is so crap - it lacks anything to make it unique. I understand the / emphasises the Cymru bit of the name, but from a design point of view, it looks ridiculous. The old S4C~ logo had the dragon's tongue to give it some character and make it unique. Now it's just three letters with a forward slash in the middle.
I hate the new idents, too. The colours seem so drab and bland, and there's nothing to make them stand out from any other channel's idents. The trend of random pieces of film with a logo stuck on them (i.e. ITV1) seems to be pure laziness, and really needs to stop. The old S4C idents were fantastic, and even if some of the new ones (i.e. egg) were weaker, they were still my favourite set of idents from across the terrestrial channels. They were unique, had a definite theme, had a great backing track, and (even though many members have said it isn't required) were Welsh-themed.
Apart from the great new website (which I've just noticed allows you to watch episodes of a number of S4C programmes), the whole thing is a huge step backwards.
Actually, on second thought, I do like the bus stop posters I've seen around too. Theyr'e quite stylish. I hope the trailer endcaps are in a similar style.

Well yes it is a lot more modern looking isn't it.
More complete looking list of idents here http://www.s4c.co.uk/e_brand_idents.shtml -- mind you only one from the west and one from the north [that will please the Welsh speakers].
