I can't believe they actually paid someone to come up with this rubbish. When will someone realise that this sort of thing isn't art - it's a picture of a plastic chair and portable TV on top of an old chest of drawers.

I wouldn't be sure that it's completely gone - the clock had apparently been scrapped before and then re-appeared a few weeks later.

It may well be that no one has got around to designing a new background for the new idents, and as the clock isn't used much now it may be a 'we'll do it when we get around to it' thing.

I believe that the Welsh word for Electric is Trydanol.

It's odd that a predominantly Welsh-language (and, post analogue switch off, presumably entirely Welsh-langusge) channel should prominantly feature a blatantly English word in an ident.

That logo is hideous and unimaginative - removing the last bit of Welsh identity from their presentation.


Considering all references to the Welsh dragon seem to be being removed I assume the same people are responsible for these as those who decided the globe wasn't inclusive enough for the BBC!

Eh? Dropping the Dragons, then replacing them with the 'television' lot as some sort of new year filler, and then replacing that yet again with these idents plus new logo in what will be less than a month?

That logo seems plain daft. The font is rather childish in appearance, but that's not my main problem with it. My main problem is obvious: It's been sliced into S4 / C, which visually translates as S4 and/or C - so we've got 2 aliases for the channel now?

The actual idents look more varied than the television ones. Still, on paper it appears to be not a patch on them Dragons though - quite a step down. Can you believe a concept that came to air in 1993 seems to be proving itself as superior to present day identity? Perhaps it isn't a surprise. These branding agencies are currently missing the point, I feel.

What exactly is the point in them bothering making the "Television" idents, if they're gonna be so short-lived?

That'll be the obligatory bollo cks marketing-speak then which now has to accompany any channel relaunch.
