Is the following approximately correct...?

On analogue terrestrial telly, Wales has always had S4C instead of Channel 4 , (hence flagship Channel 4 programmes forming part of S4C 's schedule)???

But, on all digital telly platforms, Wales now has Channel 4 exactly where the rest of the UK has it (e.g. Freeview channel #4, Sky channel #104, etc), whilst S4C is A located elsewhere, and B is a separate " S4C Digidol " version of the channel, which replaces all Channel 4 -shared output with more Welsh-language output???

If all the above is correct, then...

The actual name " S4C " (meaning "Channel 4 Wales") will be wrong after DSO! It won't be Wales' "fourth channel" (e.g. on Freeview channel #4, etc) anymore, because, er, Channel 4 will be!

So, surely the name will have to change to, say, " Sainel Cymru " (no "4") or something, after DSO?????

Wrong way round. In Wales S4C (digital version) is on the Freeview EPG as channel '4' and the Sky EPG as '104'. Channel 4 is on 8 and 108

to add to dafydd's post....

On digital services only the S4C Digidol service is available which is only c.12hours a day of only Welsh Language programming

I get S4/C Digidol on 104 and Channel 4 on 117. S4/C comes on at 500 and something I think.

I wonder how the switch to wholey Welsh will affect the channel, as I imagine there are quite a lot of viewers who will only watch it for Channel 4's programming.

Here's a clip of the chasing lines, if that's what you wanted to see.

That would make a great screensaver.

Yeah it would - maybe someone could make a recreation??

That would make a nice timefiller for station closedowns, rather than a static logo, message, or blank screen.

As for a screensaver version, it can be easily done in Flash, however it would take a while to make. I would be interested at having a crack at it, however, it would be nice to have a full resolution capture of it to use as a guide (1024x576 ideally, will settle for 720x576 anamorphic).

I was thinking that... I might suggest it. They haven't had a screensaver since their original website in 1996 (note the spherical grid which every meeja designer used to symbolise the net at the time).

On NTL I dont think ive got S4C (the one with the C4 flagship programmes as part of the schedule) just S4C Digidol with Welsh Language programmes only. I can get the normal S4C on analogue however.

To put it simply, normal S4C is on analogue terrestrial and analogue cable only. All digital platforms carry S4C Digidol on the 4th channel, with Channel 4 on an alternative channel. Sky also carries S4C Digidol on Channel 4's alternative channel outside Wales.

When I had analogue cable I had C4 on channel number 4 and S4C on channel number 98.

Now I have NTL digital I have channel 4 on 104 and S4C digidol on a channel much further up (cant remember the exact number as I must as admit I dont watch it)
