Considering the licence fee seems to have bankrolled it and licence fee payers got nothing in return it really does show how some things should be left to the BBC. Adding more localised content to the iPlayer would have reached more eyeballs - a short 5-minute daily local news round up pre-recorded by the regional hosts (or voiced by local radio newsreaders) would tick the box more than a padded out half-hour of news looped continuously, and then any non-news content on top of that can be added as and when required.
The biggest shame about the failure of local TV now is it's basically resorted to just news, an area already well covered by local websites, radio and regional TV anyway. It is regional programming which had largely been lost over the last 20 years and local TV was the opportunity to bring back local content to television screens. Some tried, but with licences that encouraged quantity over quality, and stations that didn't have the funds or resources to deliver either, it was never going to work.

Notts TV at least in the mornings simulcast the Gem 106 breakfast show via cameras in the studio, quite a cheap way to fill time and at least it's better than public domain films and looped news broadcasts. At least it's new, live content.

KMTV which in effect is a Notts TV clone with a radio breakfast show simulcast, down to the acquiring the old Notts TV sofa, is another local channel that punches it's weight above the dross from That's TV.
Latest TV in Brighton still has some local programming.
While the current London Live doesn't live up to launch expectations, they still provide two hours of live news a day. While it could be a lot better and run on a shoestring, it's still better than what others may have seen in other areas.

The whole situation with That's TV is a scandal. An absolute, overriding, overpowering scandal.
But what could you seriously have expected?

I had to Google KMTV to find out where in the UK it broadcasts, as the name is hardly geographically self-explanatory. It could've been a mildly dyslexic station name for Milton Keynes, for all I knew!
So, I now know that the K is for Kent. What the blithering flip is the M for? Media? Medway? Or what?
Would e.g. "Kent TV" or "KTV" not have been better? Are they consciously trying to sound a bit like GMTV or something?!

KM stands for Kent Messenger. It’s the name of the local newspaper in Kent and the fairly popular local radio station (KMFM) so it actually does carry some weight as a brand.

To confuse issues even more, KMTV's majority shareholder is the University of Kent, with Iliffe Media (KM Messenger's owner) being a minority shareholder.

You can add the recently-failed East Coast railway franchise to that list. Branded as "Virgin Trains" despite ownership being 90% Stagecoach, 10% Virgin.

I didn’t know that. I must say the smoothest, and most trouble free long distance train journey I’ve ever had was a Virgin East Coast train from Kings Cross to York. Arrived in York in a surreally short amount of time
