Over the last few weeks Channel 4 has quietly been revamped - and although we've had pages of talk on the new idents and promos, we've not had one post on new look C4.
I'm talking about the schedule, with changes implemented to both the daytime and primetime schedule.
Firstly, the daytime schedule. The lunchtime comedy repeats have been dropped in favour of an earlier start for the afternoon film. This moves to make way for Name Your Price, an antiques auction show in which viewers have three chances to win £500 by correctly guessing the sale price of an item at auction.
Countdown remains at 3.15pm, and although A Place in the Sun returned this week, the first few weeks have seen Come Dine with Me at 4pm. Five strangers in one town each host a dinner parties over one week, with their competitors also their guests - and their judges. Each host is marked, with the highest score at the end of the week earning one host £1000. Quite a good little show - and I've seen nothing but praise for it.
C4 are also planning furthe new shows for the 4pm slot, including a three-month long Garden Challenge series and cross-generational reality show The Coach Trip.
It's not just daytime that's been revamped - there have also been a number of changes to primetime.
Firstly, a new documentary film slot airs weekly on Thursdays at 9pm, in addition to the Saturday evening slot introduced last year. Dispatches has also moved to Mondays at 8pm from it's traditional Thursday night home.
The biggest change though is the stranding of programmes at 11pm, Monday to Thursday. This began with Anatomy of Desire then Sex and the Seventies. This week it's been a series of "Fat" documentaries - in time for an Extreme Celebrity Detox next week.
There have also been a number of other small changes, such as shows like Wife Swap and Jamie's School Dinners moving to Wednesday from their traditional Tuesday home. Other changes introduced have seen ER move to Monday nights and the launch of The Friday Night Project.
Changes have also been made to the E4 schedule, most notably the launch of "First Look" Hollyoaks at 7pm and a fixed 10pm slot for Fool Around...
And finally, Channel 4 has launched a weekday morning porn strand, with programmes such as Rude Britannia, Jump Britain and College Girls.
OK, actually those are all programmes that come under the 4 Learning banner since changes introduced last year saw the slot change it's content, repeating alot more programming from the mainstream C4 schedule.
