The kids in my area break up tommorow and go back on Tuesday 2nd September I think. But as so many schools have already broken up I would have thought the kiddies progs would be on before now.

Where the hell has x-change gone?
That was formed 3 years ago as a progamme for showing people things to do in the holidays.
Before that there was TeleQuest. What's happened to shows like that?

I was wondering that as well, but I suppose with xChange being permanently on on the CBBC Channel (you know the one with the kids with long necks that is on Satelite, Cable and now FREEVIEW!), its no longer special to have it during the holidays

They usually broadcast from the blue peter garden; though i can understand them not with the weather today. It was LIVE as they had that where's ur head at business as a game thats been played on bbc one in the afternoons.

CiTV havent had summer progs on since summer mornings ended in the 90's. But last year they had american programmes and different schedules.

Children across the country (bar scotland and i believe northern ireland that broke up two weeks ago) broke up on friday bar a few cases. Nickelodeon has started its U PICK LIVE shows 9-12 and 4-7; whilst disney have 'Raoul Summer' from 7:55; movies at 11am and programmes through till studio disney on the roof of the studio 4-7.

The main shock for me is CBBC; who usually make an effort during summer from those years ago when michael, ana, richard and steve hosted HOT with games like shower power and guests in, competions and live shows like telequest (on which a boy phoned up on show two to say "You cant act, and your programmes sh*t; with no apology; which it was for those that didnt see it!) It was then replaced by xchange which was like a summer programme should be and shownt u things to make, places to go and activities to try out.

In the next year; ana & michael presented the whole summer as richard had left and steve left shortly after the previous years hot for live & kicking.
This involved sketches, games like that medical related game; a game involving a ball pool and guests and stuff. For two weeks before the main hot started they introduced UKool Live from scotland that was broadcast across the UK but was meant for scotish and northern irish kids that had broken up for the hols.

This year they havent even been bothered to drop the breakfast show title and features. They could easily do like they did at xmas and have CBeebies on till 8am then CBBC till 11:15 (even further as they could easily drop thunderbirds. Introduce some new games; perhaps drop andrew (hes on too much at the mo; and they're not too short of presenters!) change the name and do an xchange extra like they did last summer; perhaps the new head of CBBC did forget it was the summer holidays!

I used to watch 'Why don't you?' and 'KickStart' during the summer holidays.

I remember being amused by the 'Belfast Gang's' pronounciation of ' Film '.

We like filims over here.

Never mind Why Don't You..? - what about Play Chess?! 10 minutes of dullness with William Hartnell that made you wander off and do anything else. There was also Silas, a dubbed German series about a boy and a horse. That followed the success of Heidi, which has never been repeated anywhere (probably cos there were about 60000 episodes...)

Sometimes we were encouraged to Go With Noakes, which should probably have been followed by a Public Information Film about not going off with strangers.

We also had Champion The Wonder Horse and Flash Gordon for one summer each, must have been a particularly frugal time for the BBC...

Maybe we can blame Kickstart for my fascination with bikes...

Crap programme but great song...

"LIKE A STREAK OF LIGHTENING FLASHING 'CROSS THE SKY/LIKE THE SWIFTEST ARROW WHIZZIN' FROM A BOW/LIKE A MIIIIGHTY CAAAAANONBALL HE SEEMS TO FLY/YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT HIM EVERWHERE (sic) YOU GO/THE TIME WILL COME WHEN EVERYONE WILL KNOW THE NAME OF/CHAMPIOOOOON..." ETC.

Thanks to TV Cream for that...

What programmes did CITV show at 9:25? I remember Power Rangers on then, and He-Man and I think something called Maximes World (?), what else?

Wasn't Power Rangers only on GMTV or something? I do remember a sh*t cartoon called James Bond Junior if I am not mistaken, but I do recall ITV showing Judge Judy at some point at something like 10.00am. But I do remember they showed He-man and all of the stuff like that. But both TV-am and GMTV used to have Childrens programmes for the summer, I do remember the schedule went a bit like this....

8.50am Wacaday or GMTV rubbish
9.25am He-man
9.55am News
10.00am Cartoon (Usually action)
10.30am Boring Movie.

The only thing I like about the proper daytime schedule now is that there are no films on between 10.30am and 12.20pm, I mean they could have shown better films or some good programmes in that time slot.
