When I was a youngster; only a few years ago! There were childrens programmes on itv, in later years it was american imported shows, but it wasnt the same shows as the rest of the year! Woke up to find GMTV normal, Trisha, This Morning & Loose Women! Whats happened to the days when GMTV had a fun in the sun roadshow; kids programmes from 8:30 and NOT THE USUAL LINEUP on itv from 9:25!?

I thought that the BBC would save us. CBBC always has HOT through the summer, they usually do 7 - 9 on BBC Two then swap to BBC One till 11:15 with shows, games, guests and fun (whilst bbc one daytime shows went to BBC Two). But hang on there, this morning I put BBC Two on and all there was, was an extended Breakfast Show till 10!

Channel 4 aint the same with T4 as it used to be with the Bigger Breakfast; even five is showing the wright stuff and terry and gaby (though todays tery & gaby with 'jimmy tarbuck' was top class!).

What has happened, dont tv schedulers know about good childrens tv; grab them when they are young and they'll stay with the channel. It seems like the channels dont know that the summer holidays have actually begun seems as though Richard & Judy are still on air! They have never worked a summer holiday in their TV lives!

What Happening?

There are 19 kids tv channels available on satellite... given that family homes are more likely to have multi-channel TV than non-family homes I'd say most have a much better selection than ever before!

Plus BBC TWO have CBBC on air and Channel 4 have T4 Daily for older kids/teenagers...

School holidays in Scotland and NI are longer - summer hols are 8 weeks and start at the end of June. In the past (I'm talking 20-odd years ago!) this meant there were 2 weeks when there were no kids programmes available at the start of the holidays. BBC Scotland started showing their own childrens stuff in place of the test card and there was at least one period when BBC NI took a ropey off-air feed of BBC ONE Scotland and re-transmitted it, complete with BBC ONE Scotland branding.

Its the fact that it doesnt seem like the summer holidays; its as though because the BBC now have a CBBC channel, they cant be bothered providing a service for the non digital viewers!

Even last year the summer holiday viewing on CBBC was better than it is this year; never have they called it the breakfast show!

Remember the days when they went all out and broadcast from their Childrens BBC island set ontop of studio A?

That's probably exactly the reason.

At one time CBBC used to be on One during the summer, then one year it was shown on Two, now it finishes at 10am! Though they now have CBeebies to think about as well.

ITV's schedule is technically different from usual even though it doesn't look it with Trisha Repeats and Highlights from This Morning, they generally still show adult programmes throughout summer anyway, those old films they normally dig out where hardly aimed at kids

I was thinking this, this morning. Where's all the games you have to call in for etc. Looks to me like someone in the office reminded the Head of On Air it was the holidays last week, and so they quickly thought to use some old stuff. (I hope it was like that, because I hope this isn't what they call effort.)

Well the old CBBC used to include CBeebies-style programmes, so technically it does go on longer than 10.

Only you would come up with that pathetic defence of ITV Rolling Eyes

Maybe in a few weeks time when we are further into the summer holidays ITV1 will have CITV at 9.25 followed by Trisha at 10.30 and then Loose Women as im sure This Morning takes a break and returns on 1st September

This Morning has taken a break, they have decided this year to run a recorded hour each morning throughout the summer, no doubt because of Channel 5 running Terry and Gaby throughout the summer.

CITV hasn't been on at 9.25 on Summer weekday mornings for years, last year it was Providence, the year before Trisha Gold, the year before that?

The main reason, is that its not the summer hols yet, tsk. Most schools will break up next week, then the kids TV will kick in, some (not many) break up this week, but most next week, hense no kinds tv.

Maybe its on Bank Holidays then that ive seen CITV in the mornings at 9.25? Confused:

I wonder what the schedule will be like from September ? Probabably this

9.25 Trisha, 10.30 This Morning, 12.30 News, 1.00 Des and Mel, 2.00 ? 2.30 Regional 3.00 News 3.15 CITV etc

Any idea what they plan to show from 5-6pm from September?

I don't know about that, is that in you area?

My my calculations, 6 weeks today is Monday 1st September, to take into account a teacher training day, schools in my area probably go back on Tuesday 2nd September

CBBC's schedule is identical next Monday as it was today
