BIG Brother presenter Dermot O'Leary is to front BBC1's new National Lottery show.

The 33-year-old is switching from Channel 4 after becoming tired of waiting for new projects.

The Big Brain host is to get a Saturday audience of seven million on a quiz called 1 vs 100, which pits one contestant against 100 opponents.

Wonder who will present BBLB next year then?

Probabally still Dermot if it isn't an exclusive contract.

I like Dermot, but I'm not entirely sure this is the correct format for him, in honesty.

It's likely that it might be scheduled away from BBLB. Besides, Dermot has been able to manage his Radio 2 show on a Saturday afternoon and BBLB with ease.

Ah The Mirror again Rolling Eyes He hasn't 'switched away' from C4 - he's doing one BBC show, that's all. Even if he does more for the beeb in the future. it doesn't mean he won't continue his C4 work. It's just another lottery show - not a big deal. And anyway, the makers of Big Brother are also making this show Wink

Yeah, the press are being very misleading. He's already said he'll be back for BBLB next year - and in fact this isn't Dermot's first job for the BBC at all.

He did Born to Win a few years ago - which I thought was rather good actually but didn't get recommissioned - and more notably, the SAS: Are you tough enough series for BBC2, which ran for three or four series. He's also done things for BBC3 too!

Apart from Shattered and the odd one-off, I don't think he's done anything other than BBLB for C4 in the last few years.

And don't forget last years Comic Relief stint as a presenter, not too bad actually in the end.

The amount of BB forums talking about this and how he's been fired by Channel4 is comical. Laughing

They're saying he was overstaged by Russel and didn't like it. I personally think he's miles better then the E4 perv, and this year was one of the most relaxed and flowing BBLB's ever. I can't wait to see how he covers the month long CBB5 in the new year.

As discussed many times in the Big Brother thread, any problems with BBLB really lie with the format and not with Dermot's hosting ability!

However, it must be said the decline in BBLB began when Dermot became part of the production team!

It could also be said that Dermot only continues with BBLB in the hope of getting the main gig if Davina ever quits - which looks less and less likely each year.

Well I personally know a lot more people that prefer Dermot to Russel show wise, and feel more loyal to the original product.

Seeing all Russel does is gloat about his sexual preferences for 30 minutes anyway, people without E4 aren't missing out on much are they! Laughing

Well considering he'll still be working for Endemol, I doubt he'll leave BBLB.
