Perhaps they were singing live to a backing CD?
Shouldn't they have been at school anyway?

I don't think they were when the cd jumped the words were all over the place and it did not match the groups miming a bit like the old dubbing from Bell and Sebastion .
I think they should be called S Club Late "to the words ".
Haven't you heard they have been expelled from school i think they used to go over board in the music class .

Well if they've been rebranded to S Club 8 after the split of the original group they were based on, then why are they still advertised as the Juniors on SClubJuniors.com? Old URL, new name, even the title still says Juniors.
Regarding the school argument, I reckon they have tutors, isn't it a legal requirement anyway? Child actors have tutors (the blonde kid off a certain now deceased TV Daytime soap wasn't very happy at having to see the tutor during filming breaks apparently). I dare say the same is true for S Club 8 and so on. None of them are older than 15 anyway.
I saw their performance on Des & Mel, pretty obvious to me that it wasn't live anyway but I never noticed the CD jump though. Sundown is your typical S Club style song really, I dare say the Juniors (sorry, S Club
have "inherited" a bit of material that S Club never got round to recording so it'll probably all get dumped on the new S Club 8 Album when it comes out whenever.

Yeah they have said many times that they have tutors that they work with for a couple of hours a day.
Im sure a couple of them are 16 already!
Ive never heard s club juniors/8 sing live, they never do, cant remember the last time anyone did on des & mel, though its more times than on GMTV, the only ones that sing live on that are the public, such as the gospel thing going, they sung live compared to deborah harries miming (not even close to the mic!).
I never heard a CD jump neither.

Does anybody have a video of this event? It will be good to see the little b*stards mess up. Serves them right for miming.

Des & Mel is repeated at some ungodly hour tonight (changes nightly) so the next repeat should be today's episode which will feature "the little b*stards" as you so kindly call them.
According to Digiguide, it's on at 3:40am tonight. Later than usual, it usually hovers around the 1:30/2am slot.

Top of the Pops, I reckon, pioneered the miming idealogy which everybody else has nicked.
Anyway it's probably cheaper to play a proper CD than to supply working microphones and transmitters to those who dance around on the stage - after all, who was it who said that TV is just an illusion?

There seem to be several shows where you will never / rarely get a live performance. One of them is Des and Mel and the other is GMTV. Are there any real reasons why it's the same shows every time or are they just a soft touch?

The equipment will all work, but the time consuming part is sound-checking, making sure the performers have adequate foldback etc. I doubt whether the kids could sustain singing and dancing at the same time though without at least overdubbing a vocal track here or there.
Its much easier for a quick in/out to mime, but you would *think* they might train popstars in the art of good lip-synching. Half of them dont 'breathe' the lines at all, giving the amusing muppet quality you often see.
