You can see bits of ITV Wales coverage from the ITV Local site. Looks like there using the news studio with a few extra RWC themed panels. Also using the ITV Sport sting and official RWC titles

That would be Matt Cooper, another ex-editor of a national Sunday newspaper (in fact, the same Sunday newspaper that Vincent Browne had edited years previously) that TV3 have recruited! He's very good when tallking politics on Today FM's The Last Word, but I'm not sure he can really sport anchoring.
Then again, I'm sure TV3 can do sport at all. They have no real standing sports department, the only live sport they cover on a regular basis is the UEFA Champions League and the very occasional Republic of Ireland football game. To TV3 sport has always been something they'll cover if they can get an opportunity at the rights to a big event, but its not really a priority - their mainstaple is their diet of ITV simulcasts and US programmes.
Re UTV - they are using an edited version of the ITV titles - they've managed to include a massive "UTV Sport" in them! They also had a UTV Sport DOG over the scorecard.

UTV's studio is very amateurish, they've only managed to cover up half the massive blue UTV Live backdrop and added a couple of rugby goalposts there to make it look half decent. The directing was atrocious and the link shots back to France were dodgy to say the least. TV3 were far better, despite the odd presenter choice, with the excellent Connor McNamara commentating (he of five live fame). Thats the first time I've ever watched TV3 when there was an alternative.
While on the subject of Irish sporting coverage, why do RTE often seem to have different coverage of the soccer team's away game to the host nation? Last night the coverage was very poor, probably a local company doing it for RTE, with the host broadcaster's cameras visible on the other side and behind the goals. Is this so the FAI can get their own adverts on the side the Irish cameras are looking at? Shame if commercial pressures have got in the way of providing comprehensive coverage.

Apologies for the number of images but here are some caps of UTV's coverage of the matches today:

For the first game it started off in this position:

In the second game the score graphic had moved for some strange reason so UTV's DOG was covering the graphics. When they realised they moved it up, nearly off my TV screen!

What a pitty John Taylor has been pushed to the side by ITV to make room for Miles Harrison and Stuart Barnes. He's become the 'voice of the rugby world cup' over the years.

Although ITV do a pretty decent coverage of the Rugby World Cup every four years, it does undoubtedly suffer from being the networks only rugby coverage, meaning the established teams aren't really in place.
Scheduling wise though it's abysmal how many of the home nation games have been shunted out to ITV4, even if they are on ITV1 Wales/UTV/STV.
Scotland v Italy is a prime exanple - it's been built up as a key pool match from long before the tournament kicked off, but is shunted to ITV4.

As I suspected ITV have extended their coverage tonight and kick-off at 7.30pm rather than 7.45pm.
Disapointing though that for the final next week it's currently only scheduled from 7.45pm-10.00pm - and no preview or post-programme on ITV4 either. Whether it features England or not, the Rugby World Cup final deserves better - well, at least an extra 15 minutes each way.
Also, if England get knocked out tonight will ITV1 screen the third place match, which is currently planned to be on ITV4 on Friday?
P.S. Can't find the Sport thread - but the BBC have secured the Six Nations rights to 2013, along with the US Masters through to 2010.

Media Guardian are suggesting ITV will scoop an extra £11m from advertising for the final on Saturday, plus £5m for the F1 on Sunday.
They also say ITV are considering switching Friday's 3rd place match to ITV1 in the hope to cash in further - and I'm sure most discussion before and after the match will be about the final rather than the match itself.
At the end of last nights coverage it was confirmed that they'd be on air at 7.30pm on Saturday - with extra programmes to be scheduled before hand, but not yet confirmed.
