So this starts next week then. Looks like from the listings that Mark Pougatch, Craig Doyle and Martin Bayfield are the presenters that will be hosting from the UK and Jill Douglas will be reporting from Japan.

Here is RTÉ Sport's trailer for this year's Rugby World Cup. It's focused on being inside a Irish rugby themed Japanese bullet train.

Ah a stylised Mount Fuji in Japanese event titles, expect more in the coming twelve months.

The lack of World in Union is a pity (though ITV apparently will be using it, I’d expect eir, RTÉ and S4C all to use the official titles). But it’s not completely gone, there is an official tie in version.

Eir Sport just aired a syndicated RWC preview show and although those titles are awful, the graphics seem to be fine (which is high praise given World Rugby’s previous record with host broadcaster graphics isn’t great).

Edit: RTÉ now airing a special Against the Head, and their set is very nice (as virtual sets go). Official titles in use. The graphics are quite nice, better than any World Rugby has done before.
