Rugby World Cup Final - England v South Africa : Average: 8.92m (67% share) Peak: 12,79m

Great rating, ITV will be very pleased for 10am and their highest rating show of the day, would have loved to see the rating if England had of won however and while I am speaking of ITV coverage well done for an excellent World Cup, only downside for their coverage for me is the lack of the excellent Andrew Cotter who I rate as the best Rugby commentator across all broadcasters.

And so, with the first Rugby World Cup to be held in Asia finally come to a close, it's time to look towards the future and the 10th edition of the tournament in 2023. This is the logo for the next edition btw.

See you in France!
Rendez-vous en France!

France 2023 will be a little earlier than Japan 2019 this time as the 2023 edition will be from 8th September to 21st October.
It will be taking place in 9 cities across the country. Paris (Saint-Denis), Marseille, Lyon (Décines-Charpieu), Lille (Villeneuve-d'Ascq), Bordeaux, Saint-Étienne, Nice, Nantes and Toulouse.
Frankly enough, the venues for these cities were also used for the 2016 Euros.

Also the men's and women's Rugby World Cups will now be gender-neutral in their names as from 2021 onwards, the Women's Rugby World Cup to be held in New Zealand will be named the Rugby World Cup

I did enjoy that Breakfast talked about little else on Saturday, including after 9am. Wonder if anyone decided they didn't need to watch the match itself.

Surely after 9am, the sensible thing would be to stop talking about the rugby outside of the sports bulletin?

Well, it appears that Breakfast had a least one Rugby viewer watching after 9?

Breakfast got something like 1m on Saturday (about 14%) vs. Rugby build-up with 1.7m (33%). Not unexpected - and at least Breakfast kept its head above the 1m mark. One of the rare occasions when BBC Breakfast is outflanked by itv.

I still think it was daft that the 4 hour Breakfast edition on Saturday was essentially an advert to switch over to itv, but it was what it was.

Yeah, highlights might gain viewers, but the live match wouldn't.

The peak was a bit before the end - if England won it would have been at the end. Plus the Average would have been higher as more would have watched the presentation and post match celebrations.

And England were clearly out of it with 20 mins or so to go.
