Some technical problems for Japan v Ireland this morning on RTÉ at any rate with the feed from Japan being lost at several times. Then, someone decided to push the button for a replay wipe at the crucial moment when Japan intercepted the ball around the 77 min mark, ending Ireland’s last attack.
I think Ireland fans will probably be glad that the feed was bad with that display.

"Technical problems" or a bitter Irish fan schooled in the North Korean form of broadcasting?
The DOG had to move, once they realised that should the 'home' side get a red or yellow card, the indication thereof would have been obscured by it, in it's original position.
Probably stricter rules on covering graphics now but covering the fairly redundant Japan 2019/Pool A/1st Half flipper may have looked best. No need though for an ITV and ITV Sport logo on screen so changing it works well. Bet STV come up with something to mask it ASAP.
Yes, STV is broadcasting the rugby. Already at the weekends hours are being swapped for the afternoon. I suspect in the week they'll take Judge Rinder over a couple of days, or it has already been worked into the weekend afternoon slots
Because the 6am to 9.25am block is a different franchise - ITV Breakfast, formerly GMTV. When GMTV was still around, they always had to be given the airtime back, and that hasn't changed. The owner of the breakfast franchise is entitled to those 3 hours 25 minutes each day. And that owner now happens to be ITV plc.
Another reason might be that STV, as part of its affiliation agreement, pays ITV for the entire network schedule but not for ITV Breakfast, which ITV broadcasts itself as the licencee during those hours. So having paid for the rugby, it would be entitled to benefit from the advertising revenue. Presumably then the programmes that ITV receives airtime from STV in return are ones with a similar demographic/ratings to what ITV Breakfast would rate.
