Not so much a butchering of World in Union as in ITV's case, but just playing a completely different tune over the top of it so it's barely audible, which is strange as I've read the IRB actually make it a requirement for broadcasters to use World in Union, so to downplay it in the official titles doesn't do the event any favours.
I assume they'll probably be hosting the live matches from there too so would be great if they could get a live stadium shot for those. Will look odd otherwise switching from an empty to full stadium, though I guess they might have a pre-recorded crowd scene too, then can use the empty shot for games not at the Millennium Stadium.
Couple of things about the match graphics, firstly the substitution graphics below the scoreboard forgot to mention which team is making the sub, secondly that replay wipe looks very familiar. https://youtu.be/13fGHSqHTwA (2:18 into the video) from 2008
The graphics are hideous, very dated and it's a shame after having very creative graphics for past major football championships and rugby world cups ITV Sport just gone for an adapted version of the world feed graphics. I think these are worse than the 2011 graphics for the studio bits.
To be honest though apart from F1, the Euros and the Champions League international competition branded graphics are usually woeful.
Really a shame ITV haven't been allowed to create the whole set.
The most irritating thing about ITV 4, is (unless you pay for Sky or Virgin) it's only available in SD.
At least it's now available on all DTT transmitters, though the bit rate there is woeful.
