They are quite clearly inspired by Sky NZ's graphics - of course, the 2011 graphics *were* Sky NZ's graphics just recoloured.

Which have now been adapted by Fox Aus too.

Bit rubbish that France v Italy is being relegated to ITV4. If it's because of X Factor, couldn't it just go on ITV2?

Aww, have you not got ITV4 in your cave?

The presentation in general feels disjointed. Some graphics feature heavy, 3D style shading; others are flat. Some break bumpers are focused on ordinary people performing everyday tasks rugby style, then you have Chris Robshaw standing in a CGI stadium with his number crudely added in post. You have a settled team straight from BT Sport in the commentary box, then you cut to an out of place looking Johnny Wilkinson and a surprisingly un-insightful Woodward in the studio.

What annoyed me the most though was that the graphic design team obviously doesn't care about overscan. The scoreboard looked like it was about to topple off the top of the screen.

Of course I have. It's just a poor show considering a. We're hosting and b. How much the nation creamed it's pants over the Olympics.

Going back to the graphics, the score and clock were too small, and too near the top of the screen.

However, they have another 47 matches in which to fix it!

Is over scan really such an issue in this day and age? My main complaint is the RWC DOG felt very intrusive.

At least it wasn't as ugly as the scoreboard in Brazil, which was just hideous.

On TV3 they added a giant "3 LIVE" DOG to those graphics. I switched to ITV pretty quickly because of that.

Yes. Even on some LEDs it can overscan 10%, if its not a HD source (which you can switch off overscan)

To be fair they're showing far more games on ITV than usual - think it's just 9 on ITV4 this time IIRC, though absolutely agree this is one I'd have liked to have been on the main channel, along with New Zealand v Tonga which gets bumped due to the football.

My main annoyance is they've moved the final, semi-finals and a quarter final to 4pm to accomodate it - originally all were due at 8pm. I can understand their reasons but I think 6pm would have been a fair compromise - and it would give them something to hit Strictly with too.

Also annoying most of the midweek games are in daytime rather than primetime - there is nothing really on Wednesday nights ITV couldn't give up.

Tomorrow is the last Saturday X Factor for about a month, so as to make way for the live rugby...

It's more an issue of consistency. Practically every network places their DOG and other graphics within the overscan safe zone, leaving a nice clean border around the outside. By moving e scoreboard outside of that they've ensured it will look messy everywhere in the world.
