Yeah nothing from STV here, we've got ITV and Mark Durden-Smith...
I take it STV and UTV have just taken the ITV coverage for Scotland and Ireland matches.

I think the "99" refers to his favourite type of ice cream.
Rob - was it not that in 2003 they couldn't displace GMTV so had to put them on ITV2?

You may be right, although some breakfast time kick offs did pre-empt GMTV as they've done for football in the past. Didn't GMTV get given airtime, or at least sold the airtime, later in the day as compensation?

Yes they do - they use a shot of the newsroom (I think one of the side walls is glass, similar to Granada - they've got frosted ITV News branding on there now too). Gets used semi-regularly for the late news when the set is dressed for politics shows etc and for the headlines in the Sunday lunchtime programme.
Had the teatime ITV Wales News actually gone ahead, how would they have accommodated it? Do they have an alternative studio/camera position, or would they have just turned around the studio in the 15 mins while the national news was on?

I can remember F1 quali being on ITV3 once, GMTV having extended hours on the Saturday for the race on ITV1 the next morning.

The good old days when it was only on OnDigital and some cable companies (ours didn't have it). Hard to believe now that ITV wasn't on Sky until the end of 2001!
Even worse, in 1999 some games were on ITV2 in the days before barely anybody could get it.

We had S2 up until it closed in 2001 on OnDigital then it was replaced with the defunct ITV Sport Channel then ITV2...

That would have been rather cheeky of ITV since there bought out S2 from STV.

You're wrong. It was replaced with ITV2 and ITV Sport Channel happened to launch at around the same time.

I noticed yesterday that the coverage from Elland Road, Leeds (Scotland v USA) had cue dots going into every commercial break, but once the coverage seamlessly moved to Wembley (Ireland v Romania) the cue dots into the commercial breaks stopped appearing. I assumed it would be all or nothing, but apparently not - varies by venue. Could anyone suggest a possible explanation for this?

Had it on DTV-FV in Wales. Apparently (Twitter) it aired two hours ago as well.
Just aired again on ch4 so it must be freeview thing,
