What's the point in that?! Why couldn't they leave the BBC2 schedule alone and bump Breakfast to the News Channel like they do on a Sunday.

Because then there'd be nowhere to show Saturday Kitchen, which gets a substantially larger audience than Saturday Mash Up.

About last Saturday's kickoff time:

I believe it was scheduled to suit 7 and lead into their 6pm News.

Thanks Smiff. It's no surprise if Channel 7 was the reason for the early start, but it's odd scheduling. That game was always going to be on 7Mate – of course it wasn't even held in their country.

The semi would only have been on Channel 7 if it had been a strong New Zealand v Australia Shocked (never likely!) It's a bit puzzling that the organizers gave such priority to that, and ignored the more likely UK TV interest. And it was a very interesting match... Good news that the final's on BBC One anyway.

This is from before the World Cup in Australia, but presentationally interesting (Sky NZ carrying Channel Nine's commentary):

A gaffe causing a rare "double" commentary team from 20:00 to 23:00 mins. Shocked Turn the studio mics off!
