I had the pleasure to attend the RTS North West Awards 2003 in Liverpool, last Saturday night.

If you don't already know, Granada Reports won the Best Regional News Magazine for the Tony Blair NHS Special.

The Late Debate won Best Regional Programme, So Rahman won Best Regional Presenter and Paul Crone won an Achievement Award, all his work has been appreciated including his walk for charities across the region.

I say well done to Granada. It was a great night and let's hope they keep winning these awards.

Granada do make some excellent programmes - both regional and for the whole ITV network so they do deserve these awards.

So Ruby Award winner Gordon Burns got a bit of a drubbing then?

In view of the small number of broadcasters based in the north-west, I'm having a bit of a problem with the word "galore" in the sub-title of this thread.

As far as I can understand from the first post, Granada, the company, won just TWO awards; whilst individuals who, by an accident of employment, happen to be in the employ of Granada won a further two.

Hardly worthy of "galorification", is it?

Ditto, some of Granada'a regional shows are very good and they do seem to put alot of effort into them. And obviously it has paid off in this case. As I have to say that Granada Reports is getting goood again, and if it is on I don't mind watching The Last Word, plus there's that programme on Sunday's with Tony Wilson about the Industrial Revolution, first time in a while I have to say I have seen a programme about history on ITV, it's a programme which should be on BBC Two. Plus I didn't mind that Crimefighters Alpha 3 on a Friday night, but I am right in thinking that every GMG Region got their own version. And there was that stand up programme which was presented by Ed Byrne which was very good. And who say's Granada doesn't try?
