Hmmmmm. And why are the channel names RTE One and RTE TWO? How difficult is it to keep upper or lower case consistency across two whole channel names?

I agree, it's pretty sloppy. Another example of this sloppiness is the naming of the BBC channels on satellite. We have BBC 1 NI, BBC 1 London on one hand and BBC THREE, BBC FOUR on the other hand.

Actually Crusty, the channel branding is correct in that its BBC ONE, BBC TWO, BBC THREE, and BBC FOUR. Regards upper or lower case, the channel number is in upper case with the nation/region in lower case eg, Wales, Scotland, London etc. NI can't be in lower case because, of course, they are initials. The fact that the nation/region is in lower case makes it a lot easier to read under the upper-cased number.

Yes, BraidMan, but the names on the EPG say "BBC1 NI", "BBC1 Scotland", "BBC2 NI", etc, NOT "BBC ONE NI", etc.

No consistency from Sky/the BBC on this issue either then - not just from RTE.

It always used to be 'BBC ONE' on Sky until all the regions became available. I think the use of the number '1' rather than 'ONE' is a space saving exercise to allow for the regional names. Whilst NI may not be a problem, the likes of East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire get abbreviated to 'Yo&Li' (or somet) as it is, so I guess they need the extra two letters.
