Yea the News is in Irish at 4:30 on 2 fm, well it was still last month, I think they 2fm has had another shake up of presenters since.

Is good old Larry Gogan still there?

To be honest, it's about time 2FM had the same kind of clearing out that Radio 1 had back in 1993 - while there are still some worthy presenters, most of the presenters fell into that Midatlantic mould that brings back memories of The Nation's Favourite...

I agree with you, but didn't Radio 1's listenership plummet at the time? The BBC could afford to do this to make Radio 1 what it was supposed to be - a youth station. But 2fm is entirely funded by advertising.

RTÉ did do a major (by their standards) relaunch of 2FM back in 2000, but that's five years ago now. I don't think they will ever get rid of Larry Gogan. They've also still got Dave Fanning and Gareth O'Callaghan.

The talk at the moment is actually of a Radio 1 relaunch, getting rid of all the music programmes and turning it into an all talk station. I don't think the Irish public is ready (yet) to see John Creedon, Maxi, Ronan Collins, and Val Joyce all axed in one go to be honest, I think that rather Radio 1 should be split into two stations, one a music station, the other an all talk station. It broadcasts on FM, MW, and LW, at least one of these networks could be used...
