So what does every one think of the new RTE website? (They're definately monitoring the thread - news clips dont open in their own windows so we cant post links to feck ups )
They've used the RTÉ directorate font at the top of every page! This means that the station logos are in the wrong font (ie "RTÉ Two" instead of the proper "RTÉ TWO") - except for Lyric FM and RnaG, which have the correct station logos at the top of the page. RTÉ News should have a RTÉ genre logo as is used on air, but its in the same directorate font as everything else.
To add insult to injury, the proper RTÉ Radio 1 and RTÉ 2fm logos are on the main RTÉ Radio page, but not on their own pages!
Overall the site is a lot cleaner and more coherent, but if the RTÉ Branding Machine is all its cracked up to be they could use the correct logos - you wouldn't catch the BBC making such an error...

Oh they can mess up things like this too! Just think back to the BBC News logo on the BBC One national news programmes until a few weeks ago; the BBC Manchester logo on the credits of any programmes produced there - the 'Manchester' text is rarely ever aligned with the BBC logo and sometimes isn't even in the correct font; the BBC blocks on the News 24 TOTH titles were incorrect until the recent revamp. I could on...
I really don't understand the use of that font on the RTE website page headers though; it is strange.
The new website is a very welcome improvement. Shame about the fonts being a bit messed up but thats easily changed (the RTÉ News website had that font before they relaunched the site). The TV listings section is impressive too with a very wide range of channels.
When Channel 6 launched, they wouldn't accept the EPG number that Sky were willing to give them. They wanted 106 I believe - which of course was already taken by Sky One. So therefore they went off on some other satellite (Sirius, I think). But now they do appear to be eager to get onto the Sky EPG for their own sake and are probably willing to take a number in the 200s. They might be lucky and get something in the 100s but definately not 106!
Its supposedly happening Monday (and advertising has been taken out to that effect), though we still don't know the number. It won't be 106 though - Sky will no way give up Sky One's position!
Chorus managed to screw C6 with their request for a #106 position - they readily agreeded, but Chorus channel numbers start at #1, not #101 - so they're bottom of the EPG!
If you've an ROI card, you can see it on 11260/H/27500 2/3 . 08 message for UK cards (inc NI).
They might get Channel 105 - I know it's for the 5th terrestrial but it's being included on the Irish DTT tests so in theory that's exactly what it is. Makes me wonder (even more) why the 5th channel is called Ch6???
