Yes Col, TG4 still has IVC - in fact the same people who do the IVC also do the weather and it all comes from the same CSO studio too as far as I can tell.
And for those of you who are interested - RTÉ will be launching an international television service some time in the near future (but it will really only be for the UK). There is some new broadcasting legislation being introduced in Ireland in the new year which makes provisions for such a service and for DTT/analogue switchoff as well. It will only contain home-produced material from RTÉ 1, 2 and TG4 so the possibility of RTÉ 1 and 2 becoming FTA (slim as it was) seems to be completely gone out the window. As for when exactly it will begin - that is anybody's guess but I would say sometime in the next 1 to 2 years (but maybe more). If anybody wants to read more about this, see here: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055032406

Did anyone take part in "Test the Nation - The National IQ Test" by text lastnight?
1) It was a copy of the IQ test shown on BBC1 in 2002, also called "Test the Nation"
2) Everyone I know that took part in the show by text got a message about 30 mins after the show ended that said "Thanks for taking part in Test The Nation - your IQ is *". It cost about €3 to take the full test and in the end no one found out what their IQ was - just "*".

Ha! How surprising...the whole thing was just as bad as the last version 7 months ago - it was so cheap looking. There didn't seem to be any effort or money put into the set design and considering that they will probably use it again a few times (since this is the 2nd time they've done this programme), they should have invested in a half-decent set. Miriam O'Callaghan didn't seem to know what was happening - half the time she had to pause and wait for instructions from the director. It was obviously just thrown together!

I'd say half the set was recycled from Gay Byrne's version of WWTBAM a few years back. I was only in it to find out what my IQ was. If I had any faith in RTE I'd have lost it!
And Miriam [D4] O'Callaghan and Craig [Crap joke]Doyle obviously hate each other!

Is it my imagination, or has RTE managed to screw up the year change on their production captions? The '2007' seems to be not only in a different font now but also slightly larger than the 'RTE' text right next to it. Virtually every caption that I've seen so far is like this.

It's only a screw up if they didn't mean to do that
Why they might do it that way ,only they know
But if they change it soon we'll know if it is a screw up
