Coverage of the new look RTE One is available now on a new look TV Room...

...which is where the above images have been taken from if I'm not mistaken (and had a black border edited on).

I'm not getting a new look TV room, nor am I seeing anything on the RTE relaunch

Don't understand why they're still using "888" instead of "Subtitles". Not seen any of the stuff on air yet but looking at the stills it's just an RTÉ ONE logo on stuff.

I'm a bit surprised they retained the '888' myself. When they first introduced the DOG, the '888' indicator used to fade up at the start of the programme with main channel logo DOG. It would then fade out after ten seconds or so. I preferred that method. From what I've seen so far, the '888' now looks as though it's added live.

As for the idents themselves, I quite like them. The music adds a lot I feel. Not sure about the holding caps though. The background is almost entirely black for most of the sequence.

One annoying thing though - the idents themselves still look very soft. Not sharp at all. The same issue with the previous set and the batch before that again.

I've noticed that http://www.thetvroom.com takes you to the new site but http://thetvroom.com still takes you to the old site. Make sure you're not using the second link.

Try refreshing the page manually. Looks at though your machine has cached the old redirect page. There's no reason why one URL should work and not the other.

Refreshing doesn't work, but the different URL's does. Thanks Steve

Well I don't really know what to say about the new idents! I like them for the most part I must say - the theme running through each one is very nice and the music complements them very well. The footage is good and I like the way the last image stays running while the announcer does their job. HOWEVER, the logo just slapped on with no animation or movement at all is deplorable. I (or anybody here) could have done the same thing, if not better, with Windows Movie Maker! Apart from that though, its a fair relaunch. A bit bland but it could have been worse.

And the RTÉ ONE DOG has been moved across to the right hand side of the screen - on digital platforms it is well out of the 4:3 saft area Rolling Eyes.

Any example caps of the in-vision continuity?

Haven't been any yet. Might do it the TG4 way - use weather forecasts to remind us of the schedule.
