Seems clear that the reason it wasn't held back till Christmas was the rather downbeat storyline which may have felt a bit out-of-place on Christmas day...or perhaps it was just so the DVD could be on sale in time for Christmas. Cynic, moi?! (mind you, it is being done by ITV DVD so that would seem unlikely...).
I thought it was really fantastic, far better than what I was expecting. Though the only thing I was disappointed about was that it broke the real-time filming, but saying that I could understand why they wanted to, in this, what I assume is just a one off.
I'm glad it was shown last night, it wouldn't have felt right on Christmas Day, the two Christmas episodes of TRF have been about the family on Christmas Day for whatever reason or another, this was just tying the loose ends.
Funny and sad on the same level. They deserve alot of credit for it.
I had tears running down my face long before the end - lines like "he had soup of the day, which was Friday" and "he's just painting the fish tank"- "why"- "he had some paint left over - it's magnolia" had me nearly off the sofa in hysterics. The change in mood then had tears down my wife's face.
The use of pathos reminded me very much of how One Foot in the Grave could so successfully move from having you laughing then to tears in the space of a short scene.
Could anybody help me out- I'm looking for the songs that appeared in the episode- The Queen of Sheba.
The song that played during the scene in the bedroom when Nana was talking about her wish comming true. And the music that played when Nana was taken to hospital. If you know the names of either of these songs, that would be really awesome. Thankyou

The song when Nana was taken to hospital was 'Scarlet Ribbons (for her hair)" by Sinead O' Connor.
