I'll agree that it was a bit disappointing. I mean, the acting and the story were faultless, but the whole thing felt a bit rushed and disjointed. It could quite easily have stretched over a whole series.

Have gotta admit though, I almost had a tear in my eye at Jim crying in the hospital. Shame it was so obvious from practically the start that Norma was going to die, but it was done brilliantly.

Must add someone said about it being perfect for Christmas Day - absolutely agree!

And to be honest it's probably the best hour of comedy on BBC1 since the last episode!

I said, you should have quoted me Laughing

Overal how did everyone rate it out of ten, and secondly would you like another one in 6yrs time?
For me , it was 10/10 , and no - i think it rounded it off tonight.

Tonight's episode was really great. Smile

Good balance of comedy and drama.

Fitting end to The Royle Family.

10/10.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it and have really missed it. In some ways I'm glad it was shown now rather than at Christmas. I feel it some parts would have been a bit sombre for a Christmas show.

I know the occassional episode has been screen after the 10pm news, but it would have been good if in the run up to this special they had rerun the series in a primetime slot.

So what will be the next comedy then that the BBC resurrect for a one-off special?

Wasn't there rumours of a return of Men Behaving Badly a couple of years ago?

The documentary shown just now was great as well, loads of classic memories
Who'd have thought J.K. Rowling would have been the show's biggest fan!

Absolutely brilliant!!! Aw poor nana though!!! Would have loved for her to have went on and on ... just to spite Jim!

Perhaps the short scenes made it a tiny bit disjointed, but overall it was excellent - combining humour and sadness so well, as it always does. Life-affirming viewing. 10/10.

I think Emma and Anthony have split up because I heard Barbara say "How's it going with Sarah" to Anthony just before the money-borrowing scene..

Indeed, I would have like to have known what happened to Emma and also how Anthony has managed to get himself a good job (he goes on conferences to Milton Keynes don't you know)

Also I presume Darren is probably in prison
