It's an brand new NEP Truck for the wedding service coverage - it's still being built as we speak. Great first job eh?

Is that a replacement for one of their burnt out ones?

You could argue it is I suppose, there was a spurt of activity from the other UK OB firms who all suddenly accelerated their plans for new trucks straight after NEP's Nov 2015 fire, a great big 'hole' in the market suddenly appeared

It was ! I remember a colleague of mine turning up there at 09:30hrs the morning after for a meeting, unaware
of what had happened, a bit of a surprise as he entered the industrial estate !

Also who is coordinating everything - The BBC with ITN and Sky helping as needed? I seem to recall the feed costing six figures for non EBU members.

AIUI the BBC will be providing a host feed, with third parties buying in access to it. Sky regularly buy into the BBC's coverage, and has co-operated with helicopter sharing, ITV usually complain a bit but then also buy in.

AIUI the BBC host feed this year will be UHD HLG HDR, with Sky showing it in UHD SDR (don't think Sky support HDR yet), and given that the BBC recently tested UHD HLG HDR live-streaming on iPlayer I wouldn't bet against it being on iPlayer.

Hopefully they will be a feed at 7e I need to test out the 4k capability’s on my non sky box.

A 50mbps UHD 4:2:2 picture is the ultimate test.

Would be nice! But I'll be surprised if theres a 4K feed on Satellite at all. Sky usually send them via IP.

I thought the bbc were producing the host feed in 4k, wouldn’t this go to the EBU?

"Scarlett Moffatt to cover Royal Wedding for the BBC"

...on Radio 1. But nice clickbait, BBC!

Huw Edwards, Kirsty Young and Dermot O'Leary for BBC One. Tina Daheley, Alex Jones, Ore Oduba and Anita Rani reporting. Think ITV have this in the bag.

The BBC probably has it in the bag by default (ratings wise). However, ITV has given itself the best possible chance, not only with the lineup for the wedding coverage, but with the brilliant royal documentaries it has had of late. It helps build a message that ITV is the go-to channel for royal events.

Interesting the BBC have gone down a similar route to ITV in treating it as much as entertainment as news. Dermot is as safe a pair of hands as Schofield whilst Kirsty Young has hosted such landmark events for a few years now.

Do think Scarlett Moffatt though is a slap in the face to many of the young trained staff at Radio 1.

It does look like the BBC are copying ITV’s idea by using Dermot, as I recall last time the BBC was very formal and straight laced in comparison to ITV.

What type of cameras are going to be used. I remember inside the chapel for William and Kate they used Sony P1s. Since it’s UHD I assume they are going to use the Sony HDC-P43 UHD ones that appear to be HDR unless they go Grass Valley.

They only used P1s for the unobtrusive PTZ mounts or lock-offs in Westminster Abbey. The main cameras with operators were still regular HDCs (I think it was Sony, rather than GVG/Philips LDKs?).

I'd expect a similar mix of HDC4300s for the operated cameras and the P43s in the roles the P1s would have taken. St George's Chapel in Windsor is a much more intimate space though - so the mix is likely to be different.
