Why? The stuff in the chapel isn't a BBC programme that Sky are opting in to, it's just this time it happens to be a BBC production team working for the royals.

Besides, a couple of tests aside, the BBC don't have a 4k outlet while Sky do. Should the royals prevent Sky from broadcasting their programme in 4k simply because the Beeb can't?

Odd phrase. Are they paying?

Should the royals prevent Sky from broadcasting their programme in 4k simply because the Beeb can't?

The national broadcaster, funded by the TVL, is selling a broadcast it won't transmit to the people paying for it? You see no problem with that? Shocked

Nothing to do with anyone alleging themselves to be 'royal' at all.

The majority of the country will watch the wedding in SD anyway.

"Won't" is different from "can't".

Or - after a very limited trial (that wasn’t publicised in advance) they aren’t prepared to take a chance of it failing on such a high profile event.

So you're suggesting the BBC is getting nothing in return for providing 4k pictures?

That would be quite disturbing if essentially the BBC are providing a lower quality picture to their own license-fee payers.

That’s not how a pool works though. There will been discussion between the BBC and Sky as to the technical requirements. At some point they’ll have agreed to it all being 4K (and possibly HDR). Even if the BBC can’t / aren’t happy to broadcast it in 4K now they’re probably happy it’s 4K for archive purposes.

Not only that, it's being produced by BBC Studios Events which is a commercial part of the BBC. So BBC 'Proper' will only be paying for what they get to air on their channels.

I don’t see why ROYAL is so much larger than Wedding. Looks okay though, GMB seems to me to have the best logo for it.

I’m sure it wasn’t a complete coincidence that in today’s episode of The Chase there were two contestants sitting beside eachother called Harry and Megan. The other two were Kate and Will.
