What would happen if Charles actually killed the Queen so he could get the throne??
Well it wouldn't be the first time that had happened in either England or Scotland's histories. In fact the scottish had rather a habit of it for a while!

He'd be the monarch and therefore immune from prosecution. Having a court case 'The Crown versus The Crown' could be a bit tricky!
It's called impeachment. Last time we did it we did infact "chop off his head" and we were a republic for nearly 12 years.
And what are BBC Parliament showing for most of the day?
The Funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales
Why bother repeating it?
Because
it's historically interesting
some people might want to watch it
it's the summer and BBCP don't have much else to show
That's what BBCP does - repeats old live TV coverage of important events

Just as well Oliver Cromwell is dead then isn't it
Hmmm would it be possible for Charles to give himself pleasure (in jail)?
We don't get coverage of anniversaries of other Royal deaths, such as Queen Victoria, King George or Queen Elizabeth I.
that could be interesting:
Quote:
Good morning, It's Tuesday the 22nd of January, 2008. today is the 107th anniversary of Queen Victoria's death. She died at Osborne House on the Isle of Wight after a short illness...........................
I think it's a bit odd (but sensible) idea that they already have the obiturary footage for most big important people on the system (well this is true at the BBC), so for example if David Beckham died they could soon reel out an obiturary.

They have an obit library that compiles and updates obit material for many famous people, not just the most important people
The only bit that I find a bit weird is that for the big figures they already have interviews done for the obit, so for example there's probably a tape somewhere at the Beeb with John Major talking about Thatcher etc.
It would be a real b****r if the Queen DID die on Christmas Day, and they announced it right after the speech had been shown!
I'm aware that it's recorded a few days before, but it would just be a bit of bad timing!
"We interrupt the Queen's speech to bring you a BBC News Report..."
Better that than interrupting the Bond film, I suppose....
You could also have the following announcement:
<before the Queen's Speech>
"This is BBC1. And now, the Queen's Speech. Following the announcement of the death of Her Majesty the Queen earlier today, the Royal Family have asked for the following Speech to be shown in accordance with her wishes."
<after the Queen's Speech>
"That was shown as a tribute to the Queen, whose death was announced earlier today.
And now, in a change to the advertised programme, Nicholas Witchell looks back over the life and times of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second. This replaces the James Bond film which will be shown at a later date....."
