That's very sad news. Aside from The Two Ronnies, I will mostly remember Ronnie Corbett for two programmes. The first is Sorry! because he plays a librarian, which is the job I also do. The second is for his 1990s gameshow "Small Talk". I have fond memories of watching that programme at lunchtimes in summer 1996 with my late grandpa - who was also a big fan of Ronnie Corbett.

Yet another great guest for Terry Wogan's afterlife chat show.

Sadly, the obit vt at this year's Bafta's has just increased by another 10 seconds.

I do wish people would not refer to him as a 'comedian'.
He was a comic actor - of undoubted brilliance. But, he was only as good as the material he had to work with.

Thankfully, with writers such as Ronnie Barker, Peter Vincent, Spike Mullins, David Renwick, Andrew Marshall he had great gagsmiths behind him.

I could never quite work out if, when he was doing the chair monologue sequence, he was reciting it from memory, off an 'idiot board' to the side of the camera, or bullet points on the autocue.

Ronnie Barker was similar in a sense that people insisted he was a comic actor rather than a comedian. I imagine it'll be fairly easy for some programmes to be scheduled in tribute as I recall a handful of Ronnie Corbett documentaries being made when he was alive, though it would be nice to see something specially made. Challenge are probably stroking their chins deciding whether or not to air a chunk of Small Talk.

Due to the sad death of Ronnie Corbett, there have been significant changes to the Gold schedule to Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd April.

The channel will be paying tribute by dedicating the schedule to Ronnie over the weekend.

Highlights include classic episodes of The Two Ronnies (Mastermind: Saturday, 6.20pm and Four Candles/Fork Handles: Saturday 8.10pm) and Gold’s very own The Two Ronnies Spectacle (Saturday, 7.10pm) and The Interviews (Sunday, 9.10pm).

The Gold After Dark strand is also showing an episode of Extras from series 2 which features an episode-stealing appearance from Ronnie.

Yet another legend has left us. With all the other famous people who have passed away in very recent months, I'd imagine there'd be a very entertaining variety show taking place up there right now.

RIP Ronnie. #CharlieSmithers
