I think it would be such a good idea to make a 'bio' movie of his life.... And to play Ronnie???

Peter Kay

Spot on - Peter Kay is a character actor whose natural comic timing is superb. Totally appropriate.

And yes, the Sun deserves credit for that amazing front page spread

Although the tribute programme quite rightly majored on Ronnie's biggest successes - The Two Ronnies, Porridge and Open All Hours - there was another sitcom which he both wrote and starred in but never gets never mentioned - His Lordship Entertains, described by Ronnie as 'Fawlty Tower Mark 1'. Unfortunately all seven episodes have apparently been wiped, which is why I assume it has been airbrushed from history. The scripts are available in the book 'Ronnie Barker - All I Ever Wrote' and it looks like a pretty funny show; given the dearth of decent pre-watershed comedy these days, I wonder if would be a good idea if this series could be re-made as a tribute to Ronnie's writing genius?

Don't forget, Ronnie Barker's BAFTA Tribute will be repeated tonight at 9pm, and also, from 9am-5pm tomorrow on UKTV Gold, they are having a Ronnie Barker tribute day.
