Thanks Asa... good thing I don't do dancing, not being able to tell the difference between Salsa and Tango! (actually I was in too much of a hurry to criticise the use of the ident!)
Anyway... just another reason why they should employ me in the presentation department! I know the programme is to do with a comedian, but surely, he's known and loved by everyone across the country, and as he's died... is it not considered "national reflection" on the life of such a big name? - hence why they should have wheeled out Ballet...
Anyway, on to the programme.. and Jonathan Ross seems to be talking about Chinese people called "Wonnies"...
By the way.. haven't heard anything from Auntie Mabel on the news of RB's death... is she too busy still flying around in her spotty plane with Pippin?

Good programme, I assumed at first that this must have been sitting on the shelf ready for a while, but the David Jason interview is the same as the one on the news. Most of the clips have been taken from recent compilation programmes, but I wonder how much of it was done today?

I imagine a standard obit program would have been ready for some time, possibly the last year...perhaps the Kathy Staff / Peter Hall / Leslie Phillips / Parky slots were prerecorded - or perhaps four or five film crews from all over the UK were sent out to the respective contributors, then the film transmitted to London for an evening shift in the edit suite. The rapidity of editing > transmission left the graphics leaving a little to be desired - including a stray colon going up the endcap on its own and Parky's namestrap being totally unanimated - just on and off.
Wossy didn't do a bad job I thought - slightly off topic but he's very adaptable, he really is a good broadcaster.

Say what you like about The Sun, but they do come with some brilliant front page splashes.

And that just about says it all . . .

Yes, There were 2 sets of credits running at the end - the original obscured by the black background of the new ones. Only noticable when a very long name went up and poked out the side

Did I mishear, or did Wossy's narration mention a marriage that started in 1957 (according to IMDb it was 1959) and lasted over 50 years?

I seem to recall Thora Hird's tribute programme getting the same treatment

Salsa (thanks Asa!) used into a tribute programme to a national legend... not sure if that was entirely appropriate...

I think it would be such a good idea to make a 'bio' movie of his life.... And to play Ronnie???

Oh I hardly think so.
Peter Kay is funny doing Peter Kay, and that's it.
You would be hard pushed to find an individual who could match the characterisation and sheer comic timing of Mr Barker.
And that is why it is such a loss.
