Robot Wars presenter line-up for BBC Two revealed and new logo unveiled

Perhaps worth noting this new series will only be 6 epsiodes, so a lot shorter run than the original series.

Is there any indication when it will air?

A short run is for the best I think. The long runs (as high as 19 weeks a year according to wiki) made it lose a bit of the excitement and novelty, I found.

I wonder if, as building robots is potentially dangerous and should not be attempted without great care, you still have to join the Robot Wars club and receive a badge video and club magazine? Very Happy

I would have preferred Craig Charles back to be honest.

Interesting that the official promo can't even manage to use the correct BBC Two logo... Rolling Eyes

A really uninspired choice IMO, and also doesn't help in terms of actually targetting a younger audience, which although Craig Charles is eight years older I think he'd do much better.

What do you mean?! It's on BBC Two and is factual-entertainment. Ergo, it is automatically O'Briain's gig. That's how it works, isn't it?!

Everyone's assuming that Craig Charles was overlooked and not unavailable to to him filming Red Dwarf (which he is currently)

He made it very clear that he would've liked to come back, as did JP. So either there's Red Dwarf clashes that he overlooked or the BBC simply didn't want him.

Filming starts on 4th March, which is the last day of Red Dwarf filming. So either that one day of filming was too much of a clash for Craig to be considered or they just didn't want him sadly.

I like Dara as a comedian but I don't think he'd suit Robot Wars. I can imagine it being boring with him and they replace him for the next series or it doesn't get renewed because people get put off by him hosting and the change of style of the show.

That would mean, he would be coming off filming one thing and then straight onto another, with out any breaks.

I think Dara O'Brian can potentially be a funny man but I don't like his presentation style much. The Apprentice: You're Fired felt awkward under his stewardship.

I can't help but think of the recent Takeshi's Castle revival, for which Charles was also overlooked, and what became of that.
