Robin Jones, who was one of the original Teledu Cymru announcers, sadly passed away last weekend at the age of 71. Originally a teacher, he joined Wales, West & North for the opening of Teledu Cymru and stayed there for the short duration of that ITV contractor's existence. He then moved to BBC Wales in 1964 where he became a familiar voice on both TV (in and out of vision) and radio, leaving to join the opening line-up at S4C in 1982.

In a singularly sad weekend for Welsh broadcasting, the death also occurred of Gary Price who was well known in South Wales radio circles, but had also been a BBC Wales TV announcer for a while in the late 1980's before moving to BBC Radio Oxford, and then returning to BBC Radio Wales as a producer.
