Very sad news, he was a fantastic presenter.

He had a very distinctive voice. On television he was the very first presenter of three shows that continued and came back in later years with new presenters, "Points Of View", "Ask The Family" and "Call My Bluff". a golden age of television.

He presented the Today programme for a few years in the early 70s.
Hard to think of him as John Humphrys or Jim Naughtie. The programme was different then.

Much more of a cerebral quiz show kind of chap. Brain of Britain and, of course, Stop the Week top his CV.
