Are they showing the best of ITV3 in the 4.30pm to 6.00pm slot at the moment? As all we've had are repeats so far, with Wycliffe being the first, now Rising Damp...both of which have been shown on ITV3 before.

I hope Never The Twain is next....Laughing

They should call that 90 minute slot from 4.30-6.00pm ITV3 on ITV1!

Wycliffe was made by HTV and I noticed the copyright said HTV 2006 and it had an ITV Productions endcap. Mind you I think it was HTV West who made it as it was set in Devon wasnt it?

Wycliffe was made by HTV and does get a credit at the end as (c) HTV 2006 - why credit a network programme as HTV but local news and other programmes are (c) ITV 2006 or even (c) ITV Plc 2006 - I can't work out!

Why wasn't Wycliffe changed to an ITV Copyright?

Whilst i'm on the subject of Wycliffe why are ITV broadcasting a 14x9 frame within a 4x3 on the digital services?

They could surely change the aspect ratio to fill the widescreen tellys?

Probabaly because it was a network production - regional productions all get credited to ITV productions I think?

I'm wondering if there's perhaps some contractual reason for showing the official original production company name more than anything. There was a similar situation with Channel 3 North East in the mid 90s. Whilst everything locally was branded with the big 3 NE, productions included, the very small number of Network Productions of the era were still credited fully to Tyne Tees (albeit with an endcap that looked a bit like one of the poorer jobs from the mocks forum).

Smeary awful copy of an episode of Rising Damp shown the other day on ITV3. I'm pretty sure the old C4 showings from 1998-99 were better quality.

i thought perhaps that the product (in this case wycliffe) continues to belong to the entity which produced it, in this case htv, which still exists as a company (all-be-it wholly owned by itv plc) as the holder of the wales and west franchise?

i don't think there is a contractual reason - for example central regional progs and network productions and even central news were all copyrighted as carlton uk produtions for years, followed by a central end-cap.

It's being broadcast like that because that's how it was made.
